Clark Dietz, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Engineer/Project Manager for its Civil & Environmental Team in Champaign, IL. The role involves planning, designing, and managing pumping and wastewater treatment systems, collaborating with municipal clients, and leading project teams. Required qualifications include a B.S. in Civil or Environmental Engineering, an IL PE license, and 5 years of relevant experience. Proficiency in CAD software and excellent communication skills are essential for success in this position.

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced civil engineer to join our Champaign, IL office as Project Manager in our Civil & Environmental Team. We are seeking experience with planning, design, and construction for pumping and wastewater treatment systems and related infrastructure. The selected candidate will work closely with municipal and sanitary district clients and the Clark Dietz project team during all project phases. Desired qualifications are listed below.
Primary Engineering Responsibilities
• Develop facility plans and preliminary engineer reports including alternative assessments, regulatory compliance considerations, and life cycle cost analyses.
• Prepare SRF loan applications and documentation.
• Work with a multi-disciplinary engineering team to prepare design documents for bidding.
• Prepare and review P&IDs and control system descriptions and biological nutrient removal calculations.
Primary Project Manager Responsibilities
• Delegate to and supervise engineers and technicians with project tasks and actively support their professional development through regular coaching and feedback.
• Collaborate on project pursuits and develop relationships with existing clients and prospects and develop scope and fee.
• Ensure QC/QA processes are implemented and followed for all team projects. Reviews the work of other engineers and technicians.
• Perform or assists with project administrative tasks including invoicing, monitoring project performance, cost to complete, staff utilization and other administrative tasks.
• Participate in technical and civic organizations to advance technical knowledge and build relationships with partners and prospects.
• Stay current will all state and federal regulations and permitting requirements related to water infrastructure and their impact on municipal and county clients.
Position Requirements
• B.S. degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering and IL PE license are required. M.S. degree is desirable.
• 5 years of experience with the planning, design and construction of pumping and wastewater treatment infrastructure. Experience with collection systems and stormwater systems a plus.
• Experience performing project management tasks including development of scope, schedule and budget.
• Experience with working with clients in the public sector (municipal and sanitary district) market.
• Experience assisting clients with program funding options (user fees, grants, SRF loans process, etc.) and permitting.
• Familiar with the capabilities of various CAD and modeling software including AutoCAD Civil 3D, Biowin, and Visio. Additional knowledge of modeling software including HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HEC-GeoRAS, XP-SWMM, a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to conduct effective client presentations and prepare written reports.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with other team members from multiple offices.
• Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to client and project sites as needed.
