Job Description

MaGrann Associates is hiring a Sr. Electrical Design Engineer to lead electrical design services for multifamily, mixed-use, and commercial projects. Responsibilities include preparing contract plans, performing system analysis, managing project teams, and ensuring coordination with other disciplines. The position is based in Mount Laurel, NJ, but experience with virtual work is beneficial and remote work may be considered.
Major Purpose:

MaGrann Associates is seeking a Sr. Electrical Engineer to lead a team providing electrical design services on a variety of multifamily residential, mixed use and commercial building projects (both new construction and existing building retrofit). The Design Engineer is responsible for the preparation of contract plans and specifications, often for several projects simultaneously. This encompasses advanced calculations, systems analysis, quality control of finished projects, and field/construction coordination activities.

The Sr. Electrical Design Engineer reports to the Manager of Building Performance Services and collaborates closely with our Director of Engineering and VP of Technical Services, as well as other internal and partner engineers and disciplines.

This position is based at our corporate office in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. Experience with a virtual work environment would be beneficial and working from an alternate location may be considered.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Performs design and layout of power distribution systems, electrical devices, light fixtures, controls and equipment.
• Writes specifications and ensures coordination of their preparation with other disciplines.
• Performs initial site investigations and observations of work by installing contractor(s)
• Directs the production of construction documents (drawings and specifications) for new buildings, renovations and additions to existing facilities.
• Manages and reviews the technical work of electrical designers, engineers and/or CAD Specialists.
• Provides technical assistance to clients and associates.
• Provides coordination of project designs with other disciplines.
• Develops and maintains positive client relationships.
• Assists with the preparation of project fee cost estimates.
• Ensures coordination of new electrical service for projects with the applicable utility.
• Consults with local regulatory agencies for compliance of design standards.
• Coordinates project scheduling with Project Managers.
• Conducts project cost analysis as needed.
• Ensures coordination and review of shop drawings and field problem solutions, including preparing field reports.
• Is actively involved in professional and trade associations and societies.
• Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:
• A bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum of 5 years engineering experience required in electrical design for buildings, preferably residential
• PE license required
• Experience and passion for designing sustainable and high performance buildings a plus
• Experience in on-site surveying
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit
• Familiarity with Visual Lite software also a plus
• Strong problem solving skills
• Team player who thrives in a collaborative environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Valid driver’s license required
