Magna International is seeking a Specialist in Environment, Health & Safety in Mesa, AZ. Job Responsibilities

Consulting/support in the fulfillment of legal occupational safety regulations. Ensuring compliance with specific standard requirements. Implementation of Health and Safety requirements relevant to Magna Steyr Mesa. Participation and active involvement in the context of internal and external audits. Secured and documented evidence to fulfill compliance.

Creating, implementing, and managing workplace safety and ergonomics programs. This involves developing safety policies, procedures, and guidelines that comply with local, state, and federal regulations. Key activities include performing risk assessments, hazard identification, and establishing protocols to mitigate potential risks.

Educating employees on safety protocols, emergency procedures, and safe workplace practices. Conduct training sessions, workshops, and ongoing learning initiatives to ensure employees are aware of safety regulations and can respond effectively in emergency situations.

Ensuring that the organization complies with occupational health and safety laws. Regularly conduct inspections and audits, reviews records, and collaborates with external regulators. Maintain compliance and recommend corrective actions where necessary.

In case of accidents or near-miss incidents, investigate the causes and recommends preventive measures. Maintaining accurate records, generating reports, and tracking safety performance metrics to ensure continuous improvement. Use Magna HSElinx reporting tool to track and report incidents. Analysis and statistical evaluation of accident frequencies (statistics).

Work with external consultants to develop and implement processes to ensure full compliance to environmental legislation.

Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Health & Safety, Environmental Health, Chemical Engineering, or related field
• Several years (3) of experience in occupational H&S
• Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Applications, particularly Excel
• Familiar with local, federal, and international safety regulations (OHSA, ISO)
• Incident investigation & reporting
• Safety Auditing
• Fluent in English
• Attention to detail to identify potential hazards
• Analytical skills to assess safety data
• Training skills to provide training to employees at all levels
• Communication skills to coach employees at all levels
• Strong in implementation and hands-on attitude
