The Maryland-National Capital Park & Planning Commission is hiring a Seasonal Special Events Coordinator in Greenbelt, MD. The role involves planning and coordinating various community events, managing logistics, and working with entertainers and vendors. Candidates should have event planning experience, a valid Maryland driver's license, and be available for weekend and evening work. The position pays $20.17 to $31.26 per hour, depending on experience.
The Activation Team is seeking a Special Events Coordinator to help support special events and programs throughout Montgomery County including concerts, festivals, races, community events, fun runs and walks, art performances, and other programming. We are seeking candidates that are enthusiastic about events and outdoor programs to join our team.

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) is a six-time National Recreational and Parks Association Gold Medal Award Winner. The Montgomery County Department of Parks has a career staff complement of nearly 800 employees, and we serve a diverse population of more than one million residents in the Washington, DC area. This position pays at a rate of $20.17 per hour to $31.26 per hour depending on experience and qualifications.

Work schedule is for 20-30 hours per week. The position requires weekend and evening availability according to the event schedule.
• Assists with planning, coordination and implementation of events and programs.
• Coordinates appropriate permits, licenses, and approvals during event planning process.
• Identifies, hires, coordinates, and contracts with various entertainers and performance groups.
• Assists with logistics for events including site supervision, staffing and volunteers.
• Serve as liaison between community groups, performers, vendors, etc.
• Assists with establishing marketing needs.
• Assist in preparing event budgets.
• Manages charges and expenditures related to programming.
• Manages special projects as assigned.
Must possess a valid Maryland driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience planning special events and programs.
• Experience with special events equipment.
• Enthusiasm for and knowledge of special events.
• Bilingual/multilingual a plus.
• Previous customer service experience.
Working Conditions:
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand for at least two hours at a time.
• Ability to walk at least half a mile and up and down moderate hills without difficulty.
• Tolerance for working in various weather conditions, including heat, rain, humidity, and cold.
This position is not eligible for benefits.
