The Town of the Blue Mountains is hiring a Seasonal Solid Waste Disposal Labourer in Clarksburg, ON. Responsibilities include maintaining the Waste Disposal Site, assisting with waste sorting, operating light equipment, and providing customer service to patrons. Position Summary:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Solid Waste Disposal, the Solid Waste Labourer is responsible for the day-to-day upkeep and maintenance of the municipal Waste Disposal Site. This role entails assisting with waste sorting, supporting patrons in navigating the site, and operating light duty powered equipment under safe operating practices.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist with the general maintenance and care of Disposal Site operations, including composting, depot recycling, managing electronic and hazardous waste, and landfilling municipal solid waste.
• Aid patrons and the public with site navigation and respectfully communicate waste sorting rules.
• Inspect waste loads and guide patrons in classifying waste, requiring an excellent understanding of waste types and sorting requirements.
• Communicate effectively and courteously with patrons about site and division programs, policies, and procedures.
• Perform tasks such as litter collection, sorting household hazardous waste, cleaning the shop and yard, assisting with record-keeping and sampling, and other assigned town duties, including cleaning up roadside litter or dumped waste in community locations.
• Operate various light-powered equipment like RTVs with attachments, lawnmowers, chainsaws, and hand tools necessary for site maintenance and repair.
• Act as a backup for the scale attendant, managing cash transactions, and operating scale software accurately.
• Maintain logs and records as necessary for operations tracking and reporting.
• Adhere strictly to safety protocols and municipal waste management standards.
• Promote a high standard of customer service to the public and internal customers.
• Performs other duties as required.

What you will need:
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years work experience in a labour or team environment
• Proficiency in using various maintenance and repair tools and equipment safely and effectively.
• Strong verbal communication skills for interacting with patrons and team members.
• Ability to follow structured instructions and standard operational procedures.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, demonstrating cooperation and flexibility in assignments.
• Effective organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities within set deadlines.
• Valid Standard First Aid and CPR/AED certificate preferred.
