Solar Technician

ApTask is seeking a Solar Technician in Charles City, VA, for a 6-month contract with a pay rate of $22-25/hr. Candidates should have over 2 years of experience in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting solar photovoltaic systems. Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced Solar Technician with over 2 years of hands-on experience in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. The ideal candidate will be skilled in working with both residential and commercial solar setups and committed to safety, quality, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

Install solar PV systems, including panels, inverters, racking, wiring, and monitoring equipment.

Perform routine maintenance and system checks to ensure optimal performance.

Diagnose and repair issues in existing solar systems, including electrical faults and equipment failures.

Conduct site assessments and assist in system design and layout.

Ensure compliance with local electrical codes, safety standards, and installation best practices.

Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manufacturer manuals.

Document work performed, including photographs, checklists, and service reports.

Work closely with electricians, project managers, and other technicians to complete projects on schedule.

Requirements:

Minimum 2 years of experience in solar PV installation or service.

Strong understanding of solar energy systems, tools, and components.

Ability to use hand and power tools, multimeters, and diagnostic equipment.

Basic electrical knowledge; understanding of DC/AC systems.

Comfortable working on rooftops and at heights.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications:

OSHA 10/30 certification.

NABCEP Associate or other relevant certifications.

Experience with solar monitoring systems and energy storage (battery) solutions.

Familiarity with residential and small commercial installations.
