Job Description

The Green Recruitment Company is hiring a Technical Engineering Specialist for Solar PV and Grid Connections in London. The role involves providing technical support for UK PV project development, managing grid connection applications, conducting feasibility studies, and ensuring compliance with grid codes. The specialist will lead power system studies and build relationships with DNOs and consultancies to optimize solar project connections to the UK grid.
Experteer Overview
In this role you provide technical support for UK PV project development, focusing on grid connection feasibility, applications, and compliance. You manage submissions with DNO/TSO processes, perform studies to optimize connections, and craft standard interconnection approaches to reduce cost and time. You lead and coordinate power system studies and ensure grid code adherence while developing strong relationships with DNOs, ICPs, and consultancies. This is a chance to shape how solar projects connect to the UK grid and scale deployment with robust technical governance.

Pay / Benefits
• Manage and progress grid connection applications for assigned projects through DNO/TSO processes
• Conduct grid connection feasibility studies to identify capacity and economical options
• Raise feasibility studies and budget estimates with DNO during early PV development
• Develop standard connection arrangements for PV interconnection at 132kV, 66kV, 33kV and 11kV
• Perform site visits and produce Connection Assessment Reports for clients
• Ensure designs comply with grid codes and distribution codes (G99, G100, G5/4, P28, P29, etc)
• Lead electrical power system studies for Lightsource bp projects (in-house or via external consultants)
• Review network restrictions or curtailment analyses for export constraints
• Cultivate relationships with DNO planning/design/delivery teams, ICPs, and top power system consultancies
• Advise on behind-the-meter connections and Private Wire arrangements as needed

Tasks
• Strong knowledge of the UK Distribution and Transmission industry
• Strong technical background in UK Grid code, Distribution code and ENA recommendations for renewable connections
• Commercial awareness of UK MV/HV design and build
• Strong technical knowledge of HV connection process and regulations
• EHV knowledge beneficial
• Familiarity with DNO information systems (LTDS, Congestion maps, DUoS)
• Electrical knowledge of battery energy storage facilities beneficial
• Strong knowledge of electrical power system software
• Strong knowledge of power system simulation and grid code compliance studies
