JOB PURPOSE AND SUMMARY for the Solar O&M Technician III - New Jersey
Miller Bros Solar is looking to hire an experienced Solar O&M Tech III to perform corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance and operations safely and efficiently for assigned solar power facilities throughout New Jersey, and the Mid-Atlantic region.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Solar O&M Technician III
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment as scheduled.
• Respond to dispatches to sites for troubleshooting equipment malfunctions/failures.
• Document site issues and resolutions.
• Prepare timely reports.
• Record time as required in software systems.
• Participate in meetings, in person or remotely.
• Ensure that work is performed in accordance with Environmental and Safety requirements.
• Perform work independently and/or in work crews.
• Travel to sites as requested; distance and/or overnight travel.
• Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications: Knowledge/Skills
• Must have medium voltage experience
• Must have central inverter experience
• Must have SEL/Recloser and tracker experience
• Proven experience with a multitude of electrical/construction projects and knowledge of electrical equipment including solar modules, combiner boxes, inverters, pv wiring harness, 35kv underground cable and high voltage substations.
• Understanding of general workplace safety and the ability to follow safety standards as well as help the company improve upon the standards in place.
• Ability to excel in a collaborative, cross-functional and geographically diverse organization.
• Maturity, professionalism and excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing with superiors and colleagues.
• High energy, developed interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic.
• Detail-oriented with an ability to synthesize complex analysis, approach new challenges with creativity and summarize information in a manner that supports key decision makers.
• Demonstrated proficiency in research, highly technical equipment and engineering.
• Excellent hands on abilities with strong technical skills.
• Skills to include schematics, electrical systems, photovoltaic systems, programmable logic controllers and high voltage.
Education/Experience
• One (1) or more years-experience in a power plant or PV Solar O&M/EPC experience.
• 2+ years of field experience with significant I&E, I&C and/or C&I Electrician experience will be considered in lieu of applicable solar experience. (required for a Tech II)
• Demonstrated knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals (single craft journeyman skills) such as electrical measurements, control circuits, and solid-state theory application.
• Basic knowledge of operational characteristics of equipment and associated control devices installed in power facilities.
• 2-year technical degree or equivalent Journeyman certification/qualifications is preferred.
• Vocational training or certifications in solar technology (preferred for Technician I, required for Technician II).
• Additional specialized training and certifications (preferred for Technician II).
• Experience with BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) preferred.

Ability to work overtime and non-standard working hours (nights) as required.
Travel required.
