Roost Solar is seeking entry-level Solar Installers in Vernon, BC, Canada. Candidates should have some general construction experience and a willingness to learn. The role involves installing solar panels and related equipment under supervision. About the role

We are looking for a mature, detail-oriented, and skilled person with some general construction experience to be trained as Solar Installers. There are entry level positions available for the 2025 season. Solar experience is not required for this position.

The entry level position requires a willingness to learn new skills as part of a team to install solar panels and related equipment under the leadership and direction of a Project Lead, Project Supervisor, and Operations Manager.

Posting Details

Schedule: 40-hour work week (Usually compressed to 4 x 10-hour days, Monday to Thursday)

Employment Term: March to December, with potential for extension into year-round work for the right candidates.

Compensation
• $24 to $33 per-hour base wage (depending on experience and skills).
• Performance-based bonuses (included in total) of up to $5/hour.
• Extended benefits plan (optional).
• Paid travel and mileage from shop.
• Location: Vernon, BC with occasional overnight travel to surrounding communities.

Duties

Under the supervision of the Operations Manager, Project Supervisor, and Project Lead, install the structural and mechanical elements of solar arrays, including:
• Implementing installation plans for contracted designs.
• Installing roof anchors, racking and solar panels on various types of roofs.
• Installing footings, racking and solar panels for ground-mounted systems, including trenching, foundation work and other related tasks.
• Regular communications with the Project Lead regarding solar layouts, installation plans, progress reports, etc.
• Loading, unloading, and transporting trailers with solar equipment and tools.
• Assisting with site and shop upkeep.
• Using phone-based Apps to support installation and inventory management processes.

Qualifications
• Roofing, general construction, electrical or carpentry experience is required, even if minimal.
• Highly motivated self-starter, willingness to learn and take on responsibility.
• Comfortable working at heights and climbing ladders.
• Have (or willing to obtain) safety certifications including Fall Safety Protection and Occupational First Aid.
• Ability to lift up to 70lbs.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Ability to travel to project sites around the Southern Interior.
• Experience towing trailers is an asset.
• Previous experience with solar panel installation or knowledge of solar technology is an asset.
• Experience working from elevated work platforms is an asset.
