About the position
The Solar Installer position at IEA Constructors involves assisting the Solar Technician in the assembly, installation, and maintenance of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. The role requires compliance with safety standards and effective communication while performing various tasks related to solar system installation on roofs and other structures.
Responsibilities
• Promote and comply with all Company and safety policies and procedures.
,
• Use appropriate hand tools and power tools to install photovoltaic (PV) systems according to codes and standards.
,
• Lay-out, assemble, and install solar modules, panels, or support structures as specified.
,
• Install structural, mechanical, rack systems, and PV panels.
,
• Lift, carry, and hold building materials, tools, and supplies; maintain cleanliness of work areas.
,
• Report all accidents and near misses to supervisor; participate in investigation processes as needed.
,
• Participate in pre-job work planning and safety discussions; identify and mitigate safety hazards.
,
• Understand and respond to safety hazards and warning devices appropriately.
,
• Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe work environment.
,
• Coordinate work with other crafts and co-workers on the job.
,
• Actively participate in on-the-job training and mentoring opportunities with co-workers.
,
• Produce quality work that meets plans, specifications, and industry standards.
,
• Assist in the storage, planning, and lay-out of materials according to plans and specifications.
,
• Observe functioning of installed equipment or systems to determine hazards and need for adjustments or replacements.
,
• Examine field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and continuous improvement measures.
,
• Ensure construction equipment is correctly operated and maintained if certified to do so.

• Perform all other job-related duties as requested by supervisor.
Requirements
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
,
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations accurately.
,
• Ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
,
• Experience working as a laborer or in any construction craft as a helper.
,
• Basic knowledge of solar photovoltaic construction.
,
• Developing knowledge of assembly, installation, or maintenance of solar PV systems.
,
• Ability to understand and follow directions.
,
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
Nice-to-haves
• Experience in solar photovoltaic systems installation or maintenance.
