About the position

NovaSource Power Services is seeking a Solar Field Technician Level I to join our team in Columbus, OH. This full-time position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $27.00 to $32.00, depending on experience. As a service partner for renewable asset owners, NovaSource has over 20 years of experience in the operation and maintenance (O&M) of utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) power plants. Our mission is to empower a renewable world by investing in our people and optimizing every step of our clients' project lifecycles, from commissioning to decommissioning. In this role, you will be responsible for various aspects of the maintenance and operation of utility-scale PV power plants. Your duties will include monitoring plant operations through SCADA systems, commissioning, testing, inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and modifying both AC and DC solar PV systems. This includes working with inverters, PV module arrays, transformers, switchgear, and metering systems. You will be expected to ensure a safe work environment by adhering to company protocols and safety standards, including Lockout Tag Out and Job Hazard Analysis procedures. The ideal candidate will have 1 to 4 years of experience in a related position or possess a Journey level certification. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and additional electrical certifications or military training in the utility or power industry are a plus. You will need to demonstrate knowledge of electrical safety standards, local and national electrical codes, and have proficiency in reading electrical schematics. Strong communication skills, both oral and written, are essential, as you will be required to communicate effectively with remote operators and cross-functionally within the organization. This position may require travel depending on regional needs, and you will report to senior site managers or supervisors. Responsibilities
• Monitor PV Plant operation through SCADA systems.

• Commission, test, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and modify AC and DC solar PV systems.

• Ensure a safe work environment by adhering to company protocols.

• Perform preventive maintenance work including measuring, reading, testing, and maintenance procedures on site components.

• Communicate effectively with remote operators and ensure CMMS work orders are complete.

• Prepare documents necessary for procurement and utilization of materials and vendor services.
,
• Ensure all documentation and required reports are reviewed, complete, submitted, and filed.

• Attend, participate in, and pass all assigned training in safety and environmental areas.

• Maintain work area and site housecleaning to 5S standards.

Requirements
• 1 - 4+ years of experience in a related position or Journey level certification.

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

• Demonstrated knowledge in electrical safety and arc flash standards.

• Understanding of operating, switching, maintenance, safety, and environmental procedures.

• Strong safety background with experience in Lockout Tag Out and Job Hazard Analysis.

• Working knowledge of industrial or power facility operation and maintenance.

• Knowledge of local and national electrical codes.

• Proficiency in reading and understanding electrical schematics and prints.

• Experience testing and troubleshooting medium and high voltage equipment.
