Electrical Project Engineer - RenewablesOur client is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to join their renewables team. This role focuses on designing solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, including plant layout, hardware selection, system optimization, power generation requirements, and interconnection planning. The Electrical Project Engineer will collaborate with project leads and senior engineers to maintain firm standards while overseeing junior engineers, designers, and drafters. Additionally, this role may involve supervising interns and new graduates, including timesheet approval, growth planning, and performance management.Key ResponsibilitiesLead electrical engineering aspects of commercial and utility-scale solar projects.Ensure project deliverables for electrical engineering scope are met and aligned with contractual requirements.Collaborate with project managers on scope integration and change orders.Work alongside civil, geotechnical, structural, and survey teams to coordinate design efforts.Perform electrical design and develop construction documents.Conduct electrical calculations and studies, including short circuit, load flow, and voltage drop analysis.Communicate with clients, utilities, and regulatory bodies.Conduct QA/QC on work performed by interns, graduate engineers, and staff engineers.Stay informed on industry best practices and emerging technologies.Support construction efforts by addressing RFIs and reviewing submittals.Train and mentor junior engineers, interns, and design technicians.Qualifications & SkillsRequired:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Renewable Energy Engineering.Knowledge of NEC and NESC codes.Experience with electrical power system modeling software.3-7 years of experience in electrical distribution, generation, or general electrical construction.Ability to read and create construction drawings and specification packages.Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines with minimal supervision.Basic knowledge of AutoCAD.Preferred:Experience with utility-scale PV and/or wind plant design and construction.NABCEP Certification.AutoCAD Civil 3D proficiency.Electrical PE license or ability to obtain licensure in multiple states.Experience with energy storage systems (battery, flywheel, capacitor).Proficiency in ETAP, CYMCAP, WinIGS, or DigSilent PowerFactory for power system modeling.Familiarity with PVsyst, Helioscope, SAM, or similar PV production modeling tools.Experience with PV site layout software such as Helios 3D, PVcase, RatedPower, or SolarFarmer.Background in PSS/E, PSCAD, EMTP, or related transient/dynamic power system modeling tools.
