Job Description
Christie Lites is seeking a Solar Engineer in Orlando, FL, responsible for designing and optimizing solar energy systems for various projects. Key tasks include system design, technical documentation, ensuring compliance with standards, collaboration with teams, and quality assurance. Candidates should have a relevant degree, 3-5 years of experience in solar design, proficiency in design software, and strong problem-solving skills. The role involves office work and occasional site visits.
The Solar Design and Engineering Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing solar energy systems for residential, commercial, or utility-scale projects.

• Quality Assurance and Problem Resolution.
1. System Design & Analysis:
• Develop detailed solar system designs including layout, electrical schematics, and structural support plans.
• Perform shading analysis, energy yield assessments, and performance modeling using industry-standard software (e.g., PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD, or similar).
• Optimize system configurations to maximize efficiency and ROI while meeting project requirements.
2. Technical Documentation:
• Prepare comprehensive design documentation including specifications, single-line diagrams, and equipment schedules.
• Produce technical reports and proposals that outline system performance, cost estimates, and compliance with regulatory standards.
3. Compliance & Standards:
• Ensure all designs meet local, state, and federal electrical codes, building standards, and interconnection requirements.
• Stay current with evolving industry standards, technologies, and best practices in solar energy design.
4. Collaboration & Coordination:
• Work closely with project managers, construction teams, and procurement specialists to align design specifications with project timelines and budgets.
• Coordinate with external consultants, utility companies, and regulatory agencies during the permitting and interconnection processes.
5. Quality Assurance & Problem Resolution:
• Conduct design reviews and quality checks to identify and mitigate potential issues early in the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical support during installation and commissioning phases, addressing on-site challenges and ensuring system performance aligns with design intent.
Desired Qualifications:
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Experience:
• Minimum of 3-5 years experience in solar design, renewable energy systems, or related engineering disciplines.
• A proven track record in designing solar PV systems with experience in both grid-tied and off-grid applications is preferred.
Technical Skills:
• Proficiency with solar design and simulation software (e.g., PVsyst, Helioscope, AutoCAD).
• Strong understanding of electrical and structural design principles.
• Familiarity with industry codes (e.g., NEC, IEC standards) and permitting processes.
Certifications (Preferred):
• NABCEP certification or equivalent credentials in solar PV design and installation.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is an asset.
Soft Skills:
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects concurrently.
Working Conditions:
• Work is primarily performed in an office setting, with periodic site visits to monitor installation progress and verify design implementation.
• Some travel may be required to meet with clients, attend site inspections, or coordinate with external stakeholders.
