Position Summary:

The Solar Electrician is responsible for the AC-side installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of solar PV systems, ensuring proper connection to power grids or other energy storage systems. They serve residential and commercial customers with the safe and efficient installation of solar, battery storage, and related electrical components. They represent the Company's Mission, Vision, and Core Values with other trades, general contractors, clients, homeowners, and the general public, always making sure that the Company is represented in a professional and courteous light.

Responsibilities: Installation (80%)
• Install inverters, combiners, disconnects, battery storage systems, EV chargers, transformers, and electrical wiring for residential, commercial, and industrial solar PV systems.
• Connect solar PV systems to electrical circuits, inverters, and grid systems.
• Bend and install conduit.
• Conduct electrical work involving both AC and DC circuits.
• Read and interpret single- and three-line drawings and blueprints.
• Bring existing electrical infrastructure up to code (e.g., install ground rods, upgrade main electrical panels, replace SE cable).
• Move circuits and calculate loads.
• Work safely with 480V 3-phase and 240V single-phase.
• Program and troubleshoot system communications, including the ability to install CAT5 and cellular monitoring kits, navigate inverter screens and menus, set and check software parameters, and communicate with manufacturer technical support.
• Ensure all installations meet safety standards and regulations, conducting regular inspections and assessments of work.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including system specifications and maintenance activities.

Responsibilities: Planning (10%)
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to ensure successful project completion within established timelines.
• Conduct site assessments and evaluate electrical systems to determine the best approach for installation and upgrades.
• Plan activities and equipment in advance to maximize efficiency and project profitability.

Responsibilities: Training (10%)
• Provide technical support and training to junior electricians and apprentices.
• Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices in solar energy and electrical systems.
• Stay current on all necessary manufacturers’ trainings

Qualifications: Skills, Education, & Experience
• High school diploma or GED
• 5-10 years' experience in electrical construction
• 1-3 years' experience in solar
• Valid journeyperson's license in Maryland, DC, or Virginia
• Proven experience as a Solar Electrician, with a strong background in electrical systems and installation, including an understanding of AC and DC electrical systems
• Skilled in using hand tools and power tools
• OSHA 30 certification
• First Aid/CPR certification
• NFPA 70E certification
• Demonstrated thorough and current knowledge of the NEC
• Troubleshooting aptitude
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to drive a work truck safely in high-traffic conditions
• Ability to work safely at heights and in the elements
• Field position applicants must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record
• Ability to work in the US

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $29.00 - $41.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
