Firefly Solar Inc. is seeking a Solar Designer in Calgary, AB, responsible for designing large-scale photovoltaic systems. Position: Solar Designer
Responsibilities:
As a Solar Designer at Firefly Solar, you will be responsible for creating high-quality designs for large-scale photovoltaic (PV) systems. Your role will involve optimizing system performance, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and supporting project execution with precise technical documentation.
What You'll Do:
• Design and develop innovative, efficient PV systems for large-scale project or proposals.
• Conduct computer simulations to optimize solar PV system efficiency
• Develop specifications and integration requirements for safe and effective grid integration.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations for system safety and reliability.
• Create electrical single line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and schematics.
• Generate comprehensive technical documentation to support seamless project execution.
• Recommend engineering improvements to enhance system performance and longevity.
• Self-motivate and pace oneself to meet timeline requirements for deliverables
What We're Looking For:
• Possess an Electrical Engineering degree/diploma from a recognized institution and preferably registered under APEGA/ASET as an EIT or C.E.T.
• Proven experience in designing PV systems
• Familiarity with the Canadian Electrical Code
• Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software for creating electrical three-line diagrams.
• Strong understanding of solar power integration into the electrical grid.
• Experience in running computer simulations to optimize system efficiency.
• Open to a schedule that starts later in the day, OR working one/two weekend days with one/two weekdays off.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines with precision.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Comfortable with Google services
