Job Summary:

The Solar Business Development Manager will leverage their engineering expertise and business acumen to identify new market opportunities, engage key stakeholders, and customize solar solutions for various clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical understanding of solar PV systems, energy storage, and grid integration while excelling in client acquisition, sales negotiations, and project coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

Business Growth & Market Expansion
• Develop and implement business development strategies to increase sales and market penetration.
• Identify and engage potential B2B and B2G clients, including corporations, government agencies, industrial players, and real estate developers.
• Work closely with finance and investment teams to structure solar project financing options for clients.
• Build and maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders in the renewable energy sector.

Technical Sales & Client Solutions
• Conduct technical presentations, workshops, and product demonstrations to educate clients on solar energy benefits.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to design and propose customized solar solutions based on client energy needs.
• Perform site assessments, feasibility studies, and ROI analysis for potential solar projects.
• Ensure that proposed solar solutions align with local energy policies, incentives, and regulations.

Project Coordination & Execution
• Work closely with procurement, logistics, and project teams to ensure the smooth delivery and installation of solar systems.
• Oversee contract negotiations, deal structuring, and post-sales support to ensure client satisfaction.
• Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activities to refine sales strategies.

Requirements

Qualifications & Skills:

Education & Certification
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
• Professional certifications in solar energy (e.g., PV Design, NABCEP, or relevant solar industry training) are a plus.
• COREN certified

Experience & Technical Skills
• 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or project management within the solar or renewable energy sector.
• Strong technical understanding of solar PV systems, energy storage solutions, and grid integration.
• Proven ability to generate leads, close high-value contracts, and manage client relationships.
• Experience with solar energy policies, incentives, and financing structures in Nigeria.
• Proficiency in solar design software, CRM tools, and project management platforms.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and develop strategic partnerships.
