Project Manager Job Description
American Solar has an immediate opening for a motivated and experienced project manager. This full-time position focuses on high-end, high-quality renewable energy systems, including Solar, Energy Storage and EV Chargers.
The ideal candidate confidently represents American Solar in client-facing meetings and communications, while also effectively taking on both leadership and supportive roles within the internal team. The PM is expected to pivot with ease from large-scale, complex problem solving to managing smaller, yet equally important issues on a day-to-day basis including addressing team concerns and ensuring smooth communication across all levels of the project. The individual in this role embraces challenges and adapts to change with grace, always prioritizing the success of the project and the company.

The Role
At American Solar, the Project Manager shepherds projects through the development phase in support of the Sales/Engineering team, is responsible to plan, monitor and control the installation and to provide post-construction services. Ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to specifications by leading a team, managing resources, mitigating risks, and effectively communicating with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Desired Level of Experience and Qualifications
• Project Management credential highly valued
• Project Management experience working with client teams
• 3-5 years in the solar or energy storage industries (or construction-related fields)
• Demonstrated ability and self-motivation to get projects closed and completed independently
• Basic understanding of solar electric/battery system design, and installation best practices
• Exemplary communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• The ability to move quickly from analog to digital thinking
• Experience with project management tools and CRM systems
• Proficient with all Microsoft Office 365 tools including Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word
Key Responsibilities
Initialization/Sale Phase
In support of the Sales and Engineering:
• Define and Negotiate Scope of Work
• Perform Site Visit(s)
• Inform Preliminary Designs
• Support Plan Development
• Review and Negotiate Contract Terms
Planning Phase
Closely coordinate with Client Team, Sales Team and Operations Team
• Contract Management
• Realize Scope of Work through planning with internal/external partners
• Actively reconcile Client Team vision and Project Team vision to deliver an ideal product
• Manage Deliverables
• Identify and Communicate Risks
• Identify and Affect Strategies to Manage Dependencies
• Work through Preliminary Designs with Client Team for approval to bring plans to Permit Stage
• Create and actively manage Schedule of Values
• Site visits as needed
• Subcontractor / Adjacent-Trade Scope Delineation
• Steer procurement of Long Lead or Big-Ticket items
Construction Phase
In Support of the Operations Production Team:
• Monitor project progress, identify risk and scope issues and troubleshoot
• Implement, control and document change
• Solve for anomalies i.e., one-off material sourcing, scope issues
Post-Construction Phase
• Define scope for Annual Service Contract
• Support Close Out and Client Training
• Define scope for Annual Service Contract
• Negotiate Pricing and Contract Terms
