Job Title

Purpose:

The Lincoln University of Missouri is seeking a highly qualified Assistant Professor of Soil Science to focus on soil rhizosphere processes and enhance climate resilience of agroecosystems through adaptation and mitigation strategies that improve resource use efficiency, sustain productivity, restore soil ecosystem services, and improve carbon sink capacity.
Key Responsibilities
• We are looking for an innovative researcher who can conduct field, laboratory, and greenhouse research to identify climate-smart agricultural management strategies which hold the potential to improve overall soil function.
• The ideal candidate will have experience in writing grant proposals for extramural funding to support Soil Rhizosphere/Microbiome Research.
• A strong publication record in scholarly peer-reviewed journals is essential.
• You will be responsible for recruiting and supervising graduate students.
• Collaboration with faculty within the university and other institutions, as well as contributions to relevant professional societies, are expected.
Qualifications
• A PhD. degree in Soil Microbiology/Microbial Ecology, Soil Biogeochemistry, or a closely related field is required.
• Research experience using experimental techniques in soil-root systems is mandatory.
• Candidates should have demonstrated research experience relevant to field-scale management of agricultural and natural ecosystems.
Requirements
• Expertise in several areas including nutrient biogeochemistry, microbiology, soil carbon dynamics and permanence, soil health methodology and frameworks, application of modeling techniques, and ecosystem remediation and restoration would be desirable.
• Interpersonal, effective oral and written communication skills, willingness and ability to work in a team-oriented environment with a diverse group of faculty and student population are essential for this position.
Work Environment
• The selected candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in cold and hot environmental conditions is necessary.
