Job Description
Aurora Solar is seeking a Software Engineer for its Sales Mode team, focused on enhancing their solar design platform and financial integrations. The role involves building new functionalities, developing APIs, and contributing to an inclusive, collaborative culture. Candidates should have at least 1 year of experience, proficiency in Ruby on Rails, and thrive in a remote team environment. Aurora Solar is committed to sustainable energy and offers a supportive work culture.
About Aurora Solar
Aurora is on a mission to create a future of solar for all. Our award-winning software puts the power of data and technology into the hands of every solar professional to make solar adoption simple and predictable. Our software has designed millions of solar projects so far, empowering solar companies to sell, design, and install residential and commercial solar arrays accurately, seamlessly, and at scale.
We are a remote-first collaborative team of sustainable energy enthusiasts who love what we do. We’ve been named one of "The Best Remote Companies To Work for in 2025" by BuiltIn.com and have been recognized for the second time as a Certified Green Business (CGB) with the city of San Francisco. We’re in this together to support the world’s transition to solar.
About the Team
The Sales Mode pod owns our sales narrative platform and financial integrations with partners. Our mission is to make it easy for solar professionals to tell their story, customize proposals, and offer homeowners financing options that truly fit their needs.
We’re a collaborative, inclusive team that values open communication, knowledge-sharing, and mutual respect. We support one another’s growth and celebrate progress—whether it's shipping a new feature or leveling up a skill. If you enjoy solving meaningful problems with a group that’s as thoughtful as it is driven, you’ll feel right at home.
About the Role
In this role, you’ll help scale our existing platform and contribute to new, greenfield initiatives that move the energy industry forward. We’re looking for a strong developer and teammate—someone who thrives on collaboration, cares deeply about outcomes, and is excited to solve real-world challenges with a smart, supportive group.
We live by values like we're in this together, maximize impact, and always push forward—and we’re looking for someone who shares that mindset.
If you’re excited to build for scale, care about clean energy, and want your work to matter—we’d love to talk.
Your Impact
• Build new functionality for our industry-leading solar design platform
• Design, develop, and maintain APIs that connect with external financial and sales partners
• Develop scalable, reliable, and secure solutions with a focus on long-term performance

• Mentor peers and foster a growth-oriented, inclusive engineering culture
• Support operational excellence by taking ownership of the services your team builds, including participation in the on-call rotation
What You Bring
• 1+ years of experience as a software engineer
• Proficiency in Ruby on Rails
• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams
• Eagerness to learn and work with modern frontend technologies (see "Nice to Haves" below)
• Ability to thrive in a fully remote, distributed team environment
• Proficient in both written and spoken English. (Please submit your resume in English.)
Nice to Haves
• Experience with GraphQL
• Familiarity with React and component-based front-end development
• Knowledge of JavaScript and/or TypeScript
• Passion for renewable energy and climate tech
