Position Overview

As a Senior Urban Designer, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional design solutions that reflect the practice's commitment to social values and sustainability. You'll collaborate closely with architects and engage in early-stage project development, focusing on design codes, layout proving, and outline planning. Your expertise will contribute to creating places that enhance the lives of communities and align with the practice's dedication to the RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge.

Responsibilities
• Lead the design and delivery of suburban and rural projects, with a focus on areas such as Cambridgeshire and Oxfordshire
• Develop design codes, layout proving, and outline planning in collaboration with the architectural team
• Engage in early-stage project development, contributing to the creation of socially and environmentally responsive places
• Foster strong relationships with clients, communities, and stakeholders to understand their needs and aspirations
• Contribute to the practice's ongoing commitment to sustainability and the RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge
• Mentor and guide junior team members, promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous learning

Requirements
• Architectural background (Part 1, Part 2, or qualified) preferred
• 3-4 years of relevant experience in urban design, with a focus on client-led teams and holistic project thinking
• Strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional design skills and a passion for placemaking
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders
• Proficiency in relevant design software and tools
• Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
• Commitment to sustainability and knowledge of sustainable design principles
