Job Description

Nenni and Associates is hiring a Senior Solar Energy Engineer in Fairfax, VA, to design, bid, manage, and commission solar PV systems. The role requires 5-10+ years of PV installation experience, knowledge of electrical wiring, NEC code, and familiarity with utility tariffs. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is preferred. Overview:
Our client is seeking a talented individual to join their rapidly growing Energy Solutions division. In this role, you will collaborate with a team of engineers to design, bid, manage, and commission solar PV systems for various clients. We are looking for a self-motivated professional with a technical background who excels in client support and project management.

Desired Experience:
• 5-10+ years of experience with PV installations, including both small and large commercial projects (50-1MW+).
• NABCEP PV Installation, Designer, Commissioning, or Inspector Certification (preferred but not required).
• Knowledge of AC & DC electrical wiring, communications, and monitoring systems (e.g., SMA, SolarEdge, Fronius, Chint).
• Thorough understanding of NEC electrical code, particularly Section 690.
• Experience with PV interconnection documents and familiarity with utility tariffs.
• Experience with modeling PV production using tools such as SAM or Helioscope.
• Ability to interpret structural drawings and industry-specific terminology.

Desired Skills:
• Experience with Revit/AutoCAD is preferred but not required.
• Electrical engineering skills, including the ability to develop, read, and discuss single-line diagrams for PV systems (wire and conduit sizing).
• Knowledge of grid-tied PV systems and associated components.
• Understanding of 3-phase power distribution systems.
• Familiarity with project management, project flow, and deadlines.
• Experience with inverter products and design software (e.g., SMA, SolarEdge, Fronius).
