Job Description
Carbon is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for their Geometry Team in Redwood City, CA. The role involves developing software for 3D geometry and automation, working closely with experts across various fields. Candidates should have a degree in Computer Science or related fields, experience in C++, and familiarity with CAD tools. The position requires hybrid work, with in-office attendance on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

This role is based in our Redwood City, California office and requires a hybrid at home/in office engagement (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the office).
About The Role
You’ll join a diverse yet close-knit team, working with experts in 3D geometry, software, materials, mechanics, and industrial design to develop computational design and automation software that powers Carbon’s platform. Carbon’s software stack is used to generate, automate, and manufacture millions of custom parts per month, and we’re only going up from here. You’ll be wearing multiple hats, learning new skills, and supporting a wide array of industries ranging across footwear, automotive, industrial, medical, dental and everything in between.
You will…
• Work closely with computational geometry, software, mechanical, materials, product managers, and application engineers to design, implement, validate, and ship state-of-the-art software (and some hardware) products to support Carbon’s software platform
• Develop a variety of software tools to process 3D meshes, modify custom geometries, automate print preparation processes, run printability analyses, etc.
• Develop production-grade software and tests in C++ and CUDA / GPU programming
• Wear multiple hats and touch the full stack of our codebase, from backend geometry kernels all the way up to front end UI/UX development
• Identify, communicate, and implement software development best practices
You have…
• Bachelor or Masters degree in Computer Science, Applied Math, or related field
• Experience in C++, familiarity with CUDA / GPU programming
• Willingness to learn new skills and jump right into a variety of projects
• Experience with industrial design tools such as CAD or Rhino
• Excellent verbal communication and documentation skills

At Carbon, we look at the person holistically and carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation. The pay range for this position is $152,800 - $229,200. Your actual salary will be based on your experience, work location, certifications and the unique skills you bring to the role. If you are not based in our Redwood City office, the range above will be adjusted for the geographical differential associated with your actual work location.
