Senior Software Engineer – API

ChargePoint is seeking a Senior Software Engineer – API to design and build APIs for their EV charging ecosystem. The role involves collaborating with a cross-functional team, architecting scalable systems, and ensuring high-quality software solutions. Candidates should have over five years of back-end development experience and familiarity with various programming languages and technologies. The position is remote and based in Europe.

What You Will Be Doing

Millions of drivers will be switching to electric vehicles over the coming years. We need your help to make their experience easy. You will design and build APIs that let our partners and customers, such as auto manufacturers, integrate with our charging ecosystem. You will work with a collaborative, cross-functional team that takes ideas from the drawing board to full-scale implementation. Your outstanding work will speed up the transition to electrified transportation worldwide!

• You architect flexible and scalable systems and APIs.
• You make thoughtful and respectful contributions to code reviews and design discussions.
• You define user requirements, discuss trade-offs, and plan timelines.
• You test and document your code to ensure correctness and minimize regressions.
• You are driven by producing high-quality software solutions.
• You have a respectful, positive, and constructive attitude.
• You are part of a highly autonomous team responsible for all facets of the software system, including planning, implementation, testing, deployment, and operation.

Requirements
• You have five or more years of experience building back-end software.
• You have experience with at least one server-side programming language (Java, Kotlin, Go, Python, PHP, etc.), preferably JVM-based.
• You are familiar with web services, RESTful APIs, WebSockets, distributed systems, microservices, as well as domain-driven and event-driven design.
• You have experience with different types of databases (relational and non-relational) and asynchronous processing systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.).
• You know how to apply computer science algorithms, architectural patterns, and data structures.
• You are comfortable working with Docker and Kubernetes.
• You communicate effectively with cross-functional groups.
