Our client, a pioneering research institution, is seeking a highly accomplished Senior Research Scientist to lead cutting-edge research in climate change modeling. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, blending remote research flexibility with in-person collaboration at our state-of-the-art facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and validating advanced climate models, analyzing large-scale environmental datasets, and contributing to impactful scientific publications and policy recommendations. You will play a key role in advancing our understanding of climate systems, predicting future climate scenarios, and identifying mitigation strategies. This position requires a Ph.D. in a relevant scientific field, extensive experience in computational modeling, statistical analysis, and a passion for environmental science.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead research projects focused on developing and refining climate change models, incorporating factors such as atmospheric science, oceanography, and land-surface processes. Analyze complex environmental datasets using advanced statistical and machine learning techniques. Conduct simulations and interpret results to understand climate dynamics and predict future trends. Publish research findings in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences. Collaborate with interdisciplinary research teams, including atmospheric scientists, hydrologists, ecologists, and social scientists. Develop and maintain robust, efficient, and well-documented modeling code. Seek and secure external funding through grant proposals. Mentor junior researchers and postdoctoral fellows. Contribute to the development of climate policy recommendations based on scientific findings. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in climate science, modeling techniques, and computational methods.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science, Climatology, Environmental Science, Physics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field. Minimum of 7 years of post-doctoral research experience in climate modeling or a closely related area. Demonstrated expertise in developing, implementing, and validating complex numerical models. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, Fortran, or C++ and experience with high-performance computing (HPC) environments. Strong background in statistical analysis, data visualization, and machine learning techniques relevant to environmental data. Proven track record of significant scientific publications and grant acquisition. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid research environment. Strong project management and leadership capabilities. This hybrid role is based out of Garissa, Garissa, KE , offering a blend of remote work and on-site collaboration.
