Overview
RES is looking for a Sr. Regulatory Specialist with experience in environmental permitting to support projects across the country. The mission: RES is operating in a unique and young industry, and you will have an opportunity to shape it with your work. Armed with knowledge of local, state, and federal permitting processes, you will support the negotiation process with agencies on required deliverables for existing projects.


What Your Day-to-Day Might Look Like
70% of the time you will be working on technical documents and project coordination. Working with our team of project managers, ecologists, designers, and construction managers, you will draft and compile technical documents and reports for submission to agency representatives. You will apply your knowledge of local and federal permitting processes to ensure project timelines are met and process and interpret geomorphological, hydrological, and ecological data as well as ecosystem restoration design plans.


30% of your time you will be collecting data—accessing state and federal databases to extract specific information, interpreting and communicating results, assisting ecologists and project managers with field data collection, and participating in agency site visits for project development, approval, and monitoring.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences, Ecology, Environmental Policy, Planning, or a closely related field
2+ years of experience in environmental permitting, jurisdictional determinations, and technical report writing
Knowledge of environmental policy and regulations, including Clean Water Act (CWA) Section 404/401 and Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) requirements
Ability to interpret stream and wetland restoration design plans
Experience compiling and presenting data
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to construct graphs

What Will Make You Stand Out

Knowledge of Stream Quantification Tool (SQT)
Geomorphology data collection and processing
Conducting ecological assessments
Performing wetland delineations, stream determinations, vegetation surveys, and/or hydrological monitoring
Master's Degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or a similar field
Familiarity with ArcMap, RiverMorph, Hoboware, statistical programs such as R Project, and/or other data processing software
