About the Role:
Are you a seasoned environmental professional looking for the next step in your career? We are seeking a Senior Project Manager/Office Lead to establish and grow our Indianapolis office, focusing on environmental permitting and compliance for renewable energy projects (solar, wind, transmission).
This is a high-impact, leadership role where you will have the autonomy to build a team, expand business operations, and lead large-scale environmental projects. You will be at the forefront of permitting and regulatory compliance, ensuring successful project execution while shaping the strategic direction of the office.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead and grow the Indianapolis office, overseeing business development, client relationships, and team expansion.
• Drive environmental permitting efforts for large-scale renewable energy projects, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Oversee Environmental Assessments (EAs), Environmental Impact Statements (EIS), and key regulatory reports under NEPA, ESA, CWA, and other environmental laws.
• Build and manage relationships with federal and state agencies, including U.S. Fish and Wildlife, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and state environmental regulators.
• Manage permitting for projects involving wetland surveys, endangered species assessments, cultural resource reviews, and biological surveys. • Provide strategic oversight for construction monitoring, habitat conservation plans, and stormwater management.
• Lead high-level project management, ensuring timelines, budgets, and compliance requirements are met. • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, regulatory agencies, and contractors throughout the permitting process.
• Mentor and develop a team of environmental professionals, fostering a culture of excellence and growth.
Qualifications:
• 10+ years of experience in environmental permitting, with a strong focus on renewable energy projects.
• Proven ability to build and lead a team, develop business strategies, and establish a presence in new markets.
• Deep expertise in NEPA, ESA, CWA, Section 401/404 permitting, Habitat Conservation Plans (HCPs), and Incidental Take Permits (ITPs).
• Strong background in field ecology, habitat assessments, and environmental compliance during construction.
• Experience working with federal, state, and local agencies, navigating complex permitting processes.
• Excellent leadership, client management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing and reviewing regulatory reports.
• Ability to manage multiple large-scale projects while leading a team.
