Job Description

CWP Energy is seeking a Senior Power Trader for Asset Management in Erie, PA, focused on optimizing renewable energy resources like solar and wind in deregulated markets. Responsibilities include managing trading strategies, collaborating with analysts, and leveraging market expertise to maximize client returns. Candidates should have a relevant degree, over 10 years of experience, strong programming skills, and excellent communication abilities. The role offers competitive compensation and remote work options.
CWP Energy Solutions delivers value to renewable power generators by de-risking their business and stabilizing their returns.

Using cutting-edge technology, proprietary data, and deep power markets expertise, our data-driven platform provides our partners with the tools and intelligence to optimize the sale and purchase of electricity while managing risks from increasing grid intermittency. We partner with renewable energy generators across North America operating in deregulated power markets—along with bitcoin miners and data centers—to maximize returns on solar, wind, and battery storage investments and reduce power procurement costs.

We pride ourselves on our entrepreneurial approach that encourages initiative, experimentation, and risk-taking.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an individual eager to create value in an organization with limited red tape, operating in a startup-like environment.
Key responsibilities
• Actively manage solar, wind, and battery resources to optimize our client's P&L in deregulated power markets.
• Formulate trading strategies for customer assets and provide fundamental support for strategy development. Evaluate recommendations from the analysis team to craft effective trading strategies.
• Ensure that trade strategies align with the client's portfolio objectives and risk parameters.
• Collaborate with power analysts to develop forecasts and market assessments to support decision-making.
• Design and optimize data models and analytics to extract actionable insights from power markets.
• Leverage your asset management and market expertise to serve as a subject-matter expert in sales meetings and address technical questions about our solutions.
• Prepare and present reports, forecasts, and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders.
• Stay informed about industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies to ensure optimal decision-making and develop innovative strategies.
• Create presentations and reports to clearly and accurately communicate findings on complex matters to clients.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in business, actuarial science, finance, engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience managing portfolio risk in PJM, SPP, NYISO, ERCOT, and/or MISO using Day Ahead Asset Bid and Offer Strategies, Virtuals, FTRs, and other financial instruments.
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
• Excellent communication skills—able to explain and synthesize complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to provide fundamental backing for strategy derivation clearly.
• Proficient in writing technical and commercial reports.
• Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously with a customer-centric approach.
• Excellent written and spoken English skills.
• French language skills are an asset.
• A strong desire to contribute to the growth of CWP Energy Solutions.
What we offer:
• Curious to know more?
• Highly competitive performance-based compensation
• An insurance plan you can choose
• A vacation policy from your start date
• Remote work options
