The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action is seeking a Senior Policy Analyst in Geelong, VIC, Australia. This role involves conducting research and providing strategic recommendations on policy issues related to drought and agriculture. Senior Policy Analyst

The Senior Policy Analyst will be responsible for research, analysis, and strategic recommendations on complex policy issues, particularly around drought and its impact on Victoria's agricultural industries and rural communities.
• A relevant tertiary degree or knowledge of agriculture, drought, climate policy, or other related areas is highly regarded.

This is a fixed-term position available for 3 years with flexible work arrangements within Victoria. The successful candidate will have experience managing policy projects, researching, and developing policy recommendations to the Minister and stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills are essential, along with the ability to represent the Department in forums and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

The successful candidate will display a 'can-do' attitude, contribute to a culture of excellence, responsiveness, and flexibility, and be a strong team player with experience in working on and managing complex policy projects.
Key Responsibilities
• Conduct research and analysis on complex policy issues.
• Develop strategic recommendations for the Minister and stakeholders.
• Represent the Department in forums and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain a solid understanding of policy concepts and apply sound policy analysis.
Requirements
• A relevant tertiary degree or knowledge of agriculture, drought, climate policy, or other related areas.
• Experience in managing policy projects and researching and developing policy recommendations.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
• Ability to represent the Department in forums and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Work Environment

The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria, with hybrid work arrangements available.
