Due to recent success within their research team, they are recruiting a driven Senior Materials Scientist, focusing on electrode material selection, optimisation, and scale-up for groundbreaking energy storage technologies.

As a key member of the Research Group, you will contribute to developing and advancing innovative energy storage solutions.

Senior Materials Scientist responsibilities
• Collaborate with Project Leads to design, plan, and execute R&D projects targeting performance and scalability improvements in energy storage materials.
• Investigate and develop advanced solutions to enhance the performance of energy storage cells, pushing the boundaries of current technologies.
• Lead innovation efforts to adapt and improve current technologies for application in large-scale commercial products.
• Support the growth of electrolyte and materials research, fostering cross-functional collaboration within the company.
• Plan and execute advanced research projects to optimise materials for energy storage applications.
• Partner with Project Leads and the Research Group Lead to craft impactful R&D initiatives.
• Develop and refine existing technology for deployment in commercial products.
• Conduct regular testing and analysis of materials using advanced electrochemical techniques and instrumentation.
• Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports and presentations tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Maintain a strong safety culture, ensuring proper use and upkeep of equipment.
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, contributing to a culture of innovation and shared knowledge.

Senior Materials Scientist requirements
• PhD in Electrochemistry, Material Science, Energy Technologies, or a related field.
• 1–2 years of industrial (or post-doc) experience in R&D or a related capacity.
• Expertise in electrochemical cell design (batteries, supercapacitors), component interactions, and testing methodologies.
• Proven innovation skills in electrochemistry or electrode material science.
• Practical experience in the synthesis and characterisation of carbon-based electrode materials.
• Strong understanding of experimental design and physical characterisation techniques.
• Ability to analyse complex data rigorously and communicate findings effectively to diverse stakeholders.
• Team leadership experience with the ability to motivate and manage researchers.
• Passion for renewable energy and energy storage innovation.
• High attention to detail, adaptability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
