South Pole is seeking a Senior Managing Consultant for Climate Risk and Decarbonisation in Singapore. The role involves delivering high-quality consultancy to clients, focusing on climate risks, greenhouse gas inventories, and decarbonisation strategies. Responsibilities include managing complex projects, providing technical guidance, driving business development in the APAC region, and engaging with clients. Job summary:
The goal of the Senior Managing Consultant is to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality consultancy advice to international, regional and/or local clients. Your focus will be on advising corporate clients to help them understand and quantify their climate risks and opportunities, greenhouse gas inventories and decarbonisation/net zero strategies, where you will support the delivery of large, strategic mandates as well as the development of new products, solutions and tools relating to South Pole’s decarbonisation, risks and opportunities offerings.
You will be fully accountable for the development and overall management of proposals and implementation of projects for which you will supervise project teams of varying sizes. You will provide technical guidance to the project teams and act as the main point of contact for the client. You will also leverage your technical expertise to drive business development activities in the APAC region, engage senior client stakeholders and support the generation of new leads.
Main tasks & responsibilities:
• Lead and manage large/complex consulting mandates relating to decarbonisation strategy, climate scenario analysis and climate resilience planning; in a multi-stakeholder and multi-geography context to ensure the most efficient and highest-quality implementation.
• Provide detailed technical guidance and reviews of proposals and deliverables. Develop proposals in close collaboration with the Center of Excellence teams and collaborate with global experts to further develop South Pole’s services and marketing materials relating to the latest climate risk standards and guidelines, regional climate regulations and policy, and global greenhouse gas and decarbonisation frameworks.
• Drive business development efforts by identifying new opportunities, leading client engagement alongside the Regional Sales team and senior consultants to build client relationships across the APAC region.
• Take ownership of account management for existing clients to support and grow the regional pipeline and achieve individual sales revenue targets.
• Build specialised skills and knowledge amongst the region linked to the topics and services offered by South Pole, while also sharing new insights on advancements in climate science, policy, and technology.
• Topics of engagement will broadly cover two themes and will include, at a minimum: Climate Risk
• Climate change scenario analysis (in line with ISSB/TCFD recommendations)
• Identification, analysis and quantification of physical/transition climate change risks and opportunities
• Development of climate resilience strategies for businesses
Decarbonisation
• Science-based targets (SBTs)
• Net-zero strategies
• Climate transition plans
• GHG accounting (Scopes 1, 2 and
3)
• Depending on the business requirement, there would be an expectation to engage with clients on other topics of interest.
Requirements:
Essential -
• Master’s/Bachelor’s degree ideally in Climate, Sustainability, or related studies.
• 7-10 years of work experience with a demonstrable understanding and experience in sustainability consulting or other related fields, with experience in at least one topic of engagement from each theme.
• Solid understanding of climate science, frameworks, standards, guidelines, policies and regulations, as well as environmental sustainability challenges facing multinational companies.
• Excellent project management skills, from both a technical and administrative standpoint, and proven ability to guide project teams in a multi-stakeholder and multi-geographies context.
• Excellent stakeholder and client management skills.
