About the position

Pattern Energy is seeking a Senior Internal Auditor to support the Director of Internal Audit in identifying risks and managing audits across the company's rapidly expanding operations. The role involves executing a flexible, risk-based annual audit plan and maintaining the current audit universe. The Senior Internal Auditor will be responsible for conducting enterprise risk assessments, applying critical thinking and analysis, and effectively communicating risks to internal stakeholders on a global scale. This position requires a proactive approach to providing guidance on issues and trends, formulating recommendations, and offering practical advice for corrective actions, innovation, and continuous process improvements related to complex topics. In addition to executing audits, the Senior Internal Auditor will review and provide feedback on findings and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership teams. They will also review and approve management action plans for remediation, monitoring progress and timeliness. The role includes evaluating new processes, policies, and systems to enhance organizational efficiency and effectiveness while improving risk mitigation activities. Building productive relationships with key management personnel at all levels is essential for gathering information, resolving problems, and recommending business process improvements. The Senior Internal Auditor will assist in developing and executing department-wide training on relevant topics and will liaise seamlessly with external auditor leadership regarding process and controls discussions. A deep understanding of Pattern's business and the renewable energy industry is crucial for identifying areas of need and opportunities for advisory insights. The role also involves providing structure and tools for materiality and scoping over internal controls, ensuring audits are performed within budget.

Responsibilities
• Execution of a flexible, risk-based annual audit plan and maintenance of the current audit universe.

• Responsible for executing enterprise risk assessments and communicating risks to internal stakeholders globally.

• Provides guidance on issues and trends, formulates recommendations and solutions, and offers practical advice for corrective action and continuous process improvements.

• Reviews and provides feedback to findings and recommendations to stakeholders and leadership teams.

• Reviews and approves management action plans for remediation and monitors remediation progress and timeliness.

• Performs evaluation of new processes, policies, and systems to improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness and enhance risk mitigation activities.

• Develops productive business partner relationships and interacts with key management personnel to gather information and resolve problems.

• Assists in developing and executing department-wide trainings on relevant topics.

• Liaises with external auditor leadership regarding process and controls discussions.

• Invests in understanding Pattern's business and the renewable energy industry to identify areas of need and opportunities for advisory insights.

• Provides approval and guidance over ad-hoc programs and initiatives to provide advisory insights.

• Responsible for ensuring audits are performed within budget.

Requirements
• A BS/BA degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required.
,
• Certifications such as CPA, CIA, CISA, or CFE are required.
,
• Minimum of 10-15 years' experience in internal/external audit and/or consulting is required.
,
• Proven leadership and exemplary project management skills are essential.
,
• Experience in using analytical audit tools and assessing various risks, preferably in the renewable energy industry.

• Strong knowledge of professional standards (U.S. GAAP, GAAS, SOX 404, COSO, AS5, and the Professional Practices Framework of the IIA).

• Strong understanding of internal controls, operational processes, and risk management principles.

• Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple audits concurrently.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills to present effectively to peers and management.

Nice-to-haves
• Renewable energy industry experience is preferred.

• Energy Trading experience is preferred.

• NERC/FERC auditing experience is preferred.
