We are looking for a manager to support the offshore wind and energy transition teams build their network and deliver work across the region. The role will be responsible for managing existing and growing client relationships in Japan and across Asia, as well as building new partner networks, working closely with our international and regional technical teams to scope new projects, and deliver impactful projects that will support the energy transition in the region.

As the successful candidate you will be a fluent Japanese and English speaker, with excellent interpersonal skills, a track record in building networks, working collaboratively across teams, coaching team members and delivering multiple projects. Experience in energy and electricity sector, with a strong interest in renewable energy and energy transition is essential.

Main duties and responsibilities:
• Work closely with the Energy Transition and Offshore Wind divisions both in the UK and Singapore to build relationships with clients across Asia, focusing on Japan.
• Support with proposal development, including by facilitating the appropriate input from Carbon Trust experts and partners.
• Use own and team’s networks to facilitate introductions to potential clients and engage with different stakeholder groups, including through events and webinars, to identify new business opportunities.
• Develop opportunities and key differentiating propositions with strategic impact that are based on our global expertise and local knowledge and network.
• Support the delivery of client projects, including by providing technical input to the local and global teams on topics such as climate impact assessment.
• Provide quality assurance and performance oversight across a portfolio of Carbon Trust projects to ensure that the outputs are of a high-quality and delivered on-time and within budget.
• Drive key strategic initiatives that require cross-company coordination.

Key skills we are looking for:
• Fluency in Japanese and English is essential
• Excellent client relationship building, interpersonal and networking skills
• Experience with general business development and scoping of impactful and commercial projects
• Substantial and demonstrable work experience in energy and electricity sector background
• Experience of working in a professional environment in Japan
• Experienced in project delivery
• Willingness to travel extensively across the region

Qualifications and experience:
• Degree educated (or equivalent), in a relevant discipline, e.g. engineering, economics, energy, environment, finance, politics, etc.
• Strong interest in offshore wind, renewable energy, energy systems or clean energy transition (but no specific experience required)
• Experience in leading strategic consulting projects, ideally in the low-carbon energy or related infrastructure sector
• Experience in policy/economic/market analysis and/or consultancy
• Strong experience in building and managing client relationships
• Experience in the energy sector, offshore wind, manufacturing, ideally in Japan preferred but not essential.

Salary & Benefits:

We offer a competitive salary and a performance-based bonus. Our hours are 37.5 per week with 17 days paid annual leave rising to 18 after 1 full years’ service plus bank holidays and a generous pension scheme.
