Job Description
Newmont Goldcorp Corporation seeks a Senior Manager for Environmental, S&ER in Phoenix, Nevada. The role involves directing environmental programs, ensuring compliance with permits, managing reclamation activities, and collaborating with regulatory and community stakeholders. Candidates should have a BA/BS, 10+ years of experience, supervisory skills, and expertise in environmental practices. The position is site-based, requiring travel to regional sites and flexibility in working hours.

Purpose
Direct the environmental program for the Phoenix and Lone Tree mining complex. Ensure Newmont is compliant with all environmental permits and plans in the field and that compliance is properly documented. Drive environmental permitting projects through permitting process in a timely manner. Execute reclamation and closure activities in a timely manner. Support site and regional leadership by providing strategic support to leadership teams. Engage regularly with regulatory and community stakeholders to ensure the success of the environmental program.
Essential Duties
• Oversee partnership of S&ER team with site operations teams
• Oversee coordination of S&ER programs, procedures, and employee training
• Critically evaluate complex environmental compliance reports and complex permit modification, permit renewal applications, and federal environmental assessments and impact statements
• Oversee environmental event management
• Advise and collaborate regularly with site and regional leadership teams
• Collaborate with environmental regulators, local government agencies, and other stakeholders regularly
• Ensure a strategy to manage regulatory relationships is in place and functional
• Oversee complex environmental projects
• Oversee internal and external environmental audits
• Oversee NEPA, RCRA, TRI, ISO 14001, Closure Planning and cost accounting programs
• Ensure safe work performance of direct reports
• Manage legal counsel regarding complex environmental issues
• Represent Newmont in various mining and environmental associations and interact with other environmental and mining companies

Training & Experience
• BA/BS Degree and 10+ years of experience
• Previous experience as a supervisor is required
• Previous experience with regulatory agencies is required
• Expert knowledge in all aspects/areas of environmental practices is required
• Previous experience leading long term, complex projects is required
• Ability to work in a safe manner and to follow all company and MSHA safety policies required
Working Conditions
• The position is located at an operating mine site
• Position will require regular travel to other regional sites or offices
• Requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods at a time
• Ability to periodically lift up to 30 lbs
• Requires ability to work flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
Ability to work in inclement weather and to walk on uneven ground when conducting inspections, tours, or meeting with employees
