About the job

Google's infrastructure needs go far beyond server computers. As Google's products and services scale the globe, the Strategic Negotiation team works behind the scenes to secure infrastructure for Google's future -- everything from underwater cables to physical data center space. As a Strategic Negotiator, you combine your deep market knowledge of a given sector with tech industry savvy to negotiate cost-effective solutions to support Google's infrastructure growth. You'll work with specific project teams on negotiating deals, managing vendor and partner relationships and presenting deal recommendations to our Tech leadership. Your successful negotiations have the potential to save Google millions of dollars in operating costs and impact every part of the business.

As an Energy Manager, you will lead a team responsible for securing reliable and cost-effective power for Google's data centers, and you will contribute to key strategic energy initiatives and large-scale infrastructure projects. Your responsibilities include structuring energy agreements, negotiating agreements, and managing vendor relationships. You will also foster a collaborative team environment, develop talents, and contribute to uphold Google's culture and values.

Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

Responsibilities
• Manage the APAC Regional team of Strategic Energy Negotiators. Foster a collaborative team environment by upholding norms, valuing everyone, enabling support, respect, open communication, and connection.
• Negotiate and manage DC energy supply, and advise on the energy market for new data center location strategy.
• Contribute to key strategic initiatives and projects related to data center energy and evaluate potential energy supply and infrastructure investment opportunities. Improve current or invent new approaches, creating solutions to solve business problems and ensure objectives are achieved.
• Collaborate closely with internal project teams (e.g., Engineering, Finance, Legal) to support energy transactions and manage and build strong relationships with energy vendors, partners, and other external stakeholders.
• Develop talents by defining expectations aligned with roles and goals and offering regular feedback and coaching to drive results.
