Senior Level Urban Designer (Denver)

Sasaki Associates is hiring a Senior Urban Designer for their Denver office. The role involves leading design processes, managing teams, engaging in business development, and mentoring junior designers. Candidates should possess strong communication and organizational skills, with a Master’s degree in Urban Design. The position requires in-office presence at least three days a week, with support for hybrid work.
Sasaki is seeking a Senior Urban Designer to join our Planning and Urban Design team in our Denver office. The successful candidate will be in integral member of Sasaki’s Planning and Urban Design practice, working collaboratively on multidisciplinary teams consisting of planners, landscape architects, architects, and urban designers. Applicants should have strong graphic, design, and communication skills and an eagerness to learn.

In this role as senior urban designer, you would:
• Play a lead role in all aspects of the design process including analysis, conceptual ideas, design development, client presentations, and documentation.
• Manage internal design teams and participate in external relationships with clients and subconsultants.
• Engage in business development, including marketing proposals, project interviews, etc.
• Be responsible for creating 2d and 3d analytical and conceptual drawings, graphics, presentation materials, research, and digital models.
• Initiate urban design concepts and visual graphics.
• Work with and mentor staff-level urban designers on the development of urban design concepts and graphics.
• Present design ideas during internal team and client meetings
• Work with a variety of teams and contribute to a range of project types and geographies

Qualifications

• Excellent presentation, verbal, written and graphic communication skills
• Strong organizational and management skills
• Master’s degree in Urban Design with a background in Architecture, Landscape or Planning
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
• Capacity for project-related travel
• Ability to think creatively and critically

Sasaki is headquartered in Boston with smaller offices in New York, Shanghai, Denver, and Los Angeles. This position is based in Denver and requires at least three days a week face-to-face in our downtown studio, with robust support for hybrid work.
