Job Description
Lumina Sustainable Materials is seeking a Senior Hydrometallurgist to lead the development and management of a new hydrometallurgy plant in Jeffersonville, IN. The role involves lab work, optimizing processes for critical minerals like aluminum and gold, and supporting scale-up for production. Candidates should have a relevant degree and experience in hydrometallurgy. The position allows for remote work but requires travel within the USA.
Lumina is looking for a senior hydrometallurgist to lead the development, implementation, and management of a new hydrometallurgy plant in the US for critical mineral processing. Lumina will begin pilot on an accelerated timeframe for minerals such as aluminum, gold, antimony, arsenic, and gallium. Scale-up is anticipated shortly thereafter for a versatile production facility processing sourced ores. This role will require experience at all levels of hydrometallurgy and mineral processing. Key objectives for the role include:
-Support lab work to develop and validate hydrometallurgical processes for sourced ores
-Develop chemistry and conditions for optimal processing
-Identify appropriate pilot equipment for validation
-Implementation, testing, and optimization of pilot process
-Support scale-up for production of hydrometallurgical plant
-Support production at built plant in the US
-Repeat for the next critical mineral project
Requirements
BS Chemical engineering, metallurgy, or related field; MS or PhD preferred
Experience working with aluminum, gold, arsenic, antimony, and/or gallium in a hydrometallurgical environment
Experience with lab, pilot, and production scales
Ability to travel and spend time in the USA while working remotely other times
Ability to move quickly, learn, adapt, and try again
Ability to work with a multi-functional team to deliver results
Flexibility and adpatability in an entrepreneurial environment
Self-driven, independent hard worker
