Our science and technology takes place in Bangalore; our operations are undertaken in Darjeeling’s heritage tea estates.

Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Geochemist to lead the development and implementation of advanced geochemical techniques, relevant to chemical weathering and water-rock interactions. The position requires in-depth knowledge of low-temperature geochemistry, global and regional carbon cycling, and expertise in analyzing and interpreting complex geochemical data and supervising critical lab operations.

Experience with geochemical modeling tools is an advantage. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in investigating complex silicate weathering reactions, simulating geochemical processes at a watershed scale, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to inform and optimize geochemical, environmental, and engineering projects.

What You’ll Do:

Geochemical data analysis:
Analyze and interpret complex geochemical datasets (elemental abundance, concentrations, isotope ratios, etc.) to constrain silicate weathering rates and carbon removal.
Model Development:
Develop and implement advanced geochemical models (eg, reactive transport models) to simulate geochemical reactions in soil profiles and watersheds.

Collaboration:

Work closely with cross-functional teams, including geologists, geochemists, engineers, and environmental scientists, to integrate data interpretations and predictive model results into practical applications.
Research and

Innovation: Stay updated with the latest advancements in geochemistry, global carbon cycle, and geochemical carbon removal methods to improve understanding of the science of ERW and relevant decision-making.
Technical Leadership:
Lead field studies and laboratory experiments to gather data for advancements of existing protocols.
Communication:
Prepare and review technical reports, research papers, and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders and the scientific community.

Technical Expertise:
Proven expertise in interpreting complex geochemical datasets from solid and aqueous samples from a variety of settings, including geochemical modeling techniques applicable to surface-subsurface processes in numerical modeling techniques, including finite element methods, finite volume methods, finite difference methods, and geochemical reactive transport of contaminants in subsurface environments.
Analytical

Skills: Advanced analytical knowledge and problem-solving skills critical for a geochemistry lab, with experience in applying geochemical modeling codes such as PHREEQC, Crunch flow, and Geochemist’s Workbench.
Communication

Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present and explain technical information to multidisciplinary teams, stakeholders, and non-technical audiences.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in leading projects and mentoring junior staff.
Demonstrated ability to secure funding and manage research projects.
