About the position
The Worldwide Sustainability (WWS) Finance team at Amazon is dedicated to managing the company's social and environmental impact on a global scale. This team plays a crucial role in supporting Amazon's commitment to sustainability, particularly through the Climate Pledge, which aims to measure and report greenhouse gas emissions and achieve net-zero emissions by 2040. This ambitious goal requires a comprehensive strategic and financial approach, making the role of a Senior Financial Analyst in Sustainability Finance vital to the success of these initiatives. As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial planning, analysis, and reporting for the WWS team and Amazon's carbon credit portfolio. Your key responsibilities will include managing essential financial planning and analysis (FP&A) activities such as management reporting, program tracking, headcount expense management, and auditing key business metrics. You will also provide critical guidance and support to the Sustainability team regarding project approvals and procurement best practices. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in the Sustainability team's carbon credit initiatives. This will involve executing monthly financial controls, tracking and analyzing key portfolio and pipeline metrics, and providing leadership summaries on the status and outlook of these initiatives. You will be responsible for updating financial models to reflect new assumptions, performing sensitivity analyses, and identifying business risks and opportunities. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to assist business partners in strategizing and analyzing centrally managed decarbonization and biodiversity investments. This will require leveraging your expertise in financial modeling, investment analysis, and portfolio management to provide insights and recommendations that will shape Amazon's climate action programs.
Responsibilities
• Manage financial processes including project approvals, forecast/budgeting, and accruals/month-end close.

• Execute monthly financial controls for the carbon credit portfolio, including metrics tracking, variance analysis, and risk assessment.

• Update financial models to incorporate new data and assumptions related to the carbon credit program.

• Perform discounted cash flow and P&L financial modeling.
,
• Coordinate with business partners on NPV bridging and ad hoc analyses.
,
• Ensure internal stakeholders are aligned with finance inputs and recommendations.
Requirements
• 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
,
• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)
Nice-to-haves
• Experience in financial modeling, P&L management or analysis

• Experience applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses

• Experience in investment banking, strategy consulting, or corporate business development
