RES is seeking a Senior Estimator for Battery Energy Storage Systems in Indianapolis, IN. The role involves preparing detailed cost estimates for renewable energy projects, managing a team of estimators, analyzing RFP documents, and collaborating with the Preconstruction Manager. Summary:

As a Senior Estimator for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), you will play a crucial role in preparing detailed cost estimates for renewable energy projects. Your expertise will inform and influence the pricing strategies used for our construction bids, ensuring they are competitive and timely. You will manage estimates with a deep understanding of labor, materials, equipment, and productivity, contributing to our renewable energy and transmission & distribution construction efforts.

Requirements:
• Analyze and thoroughly understand all Request for Proposal (RFP) documents to define the project's scope and necessary pricing components.
• Lead a team of estimators in creating precise and attractive estimates for construction projects, providing mentorship and guidance throughout the process.
• Collaborate closely with the Preconstruction Manager to ensure engineering insights inform the basis of your estimates.
• Manage quote requests to vendors and subcontractors; evaluate responses for completeness and alignment with project schedules.
• Utilize standardized tools to produce reliable project cost and schedule estimates.
• Conduct take-offs to calculate necessary quantities and units of work for construction scopes related to BESS, including both DC and AC electrical systems.
• Assess labor requirements, commodity pricing, and project specifications to identify cost impacts.
• Recognize project risks and document them in the Risk Register during the estimate preparation phase.
• Maintain punctual attendance in line with workplace expectations.
• Adhere to our Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and Company Policies.
• Promote and uphold a safety-first and quality-focused attitude.
• Create bid documents that align with RFP submission requirements, including Statements of Value and Assumptions Clarifications Exclusions.
• Work in concert with the Preconstruction Manager and Proposal Scheduler to align estimated resources and project timelines to meet client-defined milestones.
• Present project scopes, identified risks, and cost estimates in reviews with Operations and Executives.
• Ensure accuracy in all estimate entries reflecting the full project scope and analyze related expenses from the RFP and design phases.
• Collect and maintain relevant market data to inform construction and soft cost estimates.
• Assist with the proposal assembly process during bidding alongside the Proposal Coordinator and Preconstruction Manager.
• Support the gathering of historical cost data for future reference.
• Lead Estimating Handoff Meetings, preparing necessary documentation and being the main contact for follow-up after discussions with the construction team.

Qualifications:
• Associate's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline, or a high school diploma with two years of comparable experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in estimating utility-scale BESS or a similar combination of BESS and industrial electrical project management.
• 2 years of experience leading estimation teams for specific projects is preferred.
• 1 year of field-based construction estimations is advantageous.
• Willingness to travel domestically 5 to 15% of the time.
• Experience with EPC and Balance of Plant estimate structures applicable to large-scale renewable energy projects.
• Ability to suggest alternative designs or scope definitions enhancing consistency and competitiveness.
• Thorough understanding of processes involved in renewable energy project construction, particularly regarding BESS systems.
• Familiarity with design-build construction methods and production-based cost estimation.
• Competency in performing quantity take-offs from construction plans.
• Capacity to draft indicative budgets without detailed engineered documents.
• Experience with estimating software, with a preference for HCSS HeavyBid.
• Familiarity with Blue Beam/Adobe for quantity take-off.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Project, OneNote, Teams) and SharePoint.
• Ability to evaluate site conditions for accurate resource estimation based on various reports and site visits.
• Strong interpersonal skills for effective client and subcontractor negotiations.
• Willingness to review site conditions during the proposal phase and assess resources during the construction phase.
• Excellent communication skills for explaining the benefits and drawbacks of different design options.
• High attention to detail and strong analytical capabilities.
• Motivation to quickly learn and apply new knowledge.
• Ability to work independently while meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of industry standards, practices, and procedures.
• Ability to drive process innovations, aligning with corporate quality standards.
• Comfortable collaborating with diverse teams including third-party clients, engineers, estimators, and managers.
• Ability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Key competencies include attention to detail, collaboration, continuous improvement, prioritization, and accountability.

Anticipated Base Salary Range: $123,000 - $154,000. Final compensation will depend on education, qualifications, and experience, and this position is eligible for bonuses.
