INTERA Incorporated is hiring a Senior Environmental Scientist in Richland, WA. The role involves leading environmental projects, supporting risk assessments, and developing regulatory products. As a Senior Environmental Scientist, you will play a leadership role in supporting our environmental projects. You will work closely with our senior scientists and project managers to support risk assessment projects, interface with federal and state agencies, and lead the development of regulatory products such as data quality objectives, sampling and analysis plans, and other key products to further regulatory decision-making and strategy development.

Key Responsibilities
• Analyze and interpret environmental data
• Lead Data Quality Objectives and Sampling and Analysis Plan development
• Lead preparation of reports and technical presentations for clients, regulators, and other stakeholders
• Review technical documentation as a senior reviewer to improve deliverable quality
• Function as a subject matter expert to support client needs
• Collaborate with team members to ensure project goals are met
Required Qualifications
• Master’s degree in environmental science or environmental toxicology, or a closely related field
• 20+ years of experience in environmental and regulatory applications
• Expert knowledge of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Model Toxics Control Act (MTCA), and Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills as evidenced by publication and presentation record
• Ability to work both independently and as part of an integrated team
• Willingness to travel as required
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working with the U.S. Department of Energy, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and the Washington State Department of Ecology
• Knowledge of Federal and Washington State regulations, assessment, and monitoring requirements for hazardous substances and radionuclides in soil, groundwater, surface water, air, and biota
• Experience in developing and implementing Data Quality Objectives (DQO), Work Plans, Sampling and Analysis Plans (SAPs), Field Sampling Plans (FSPs), and other supporting documentation for study design, quality assessment, and decision-making
• Proficiency in the use of environmental and toxicological data sources including the Hanford Environmental Information System (HEIS)
