About the position
SCS Engineers is seeking a Senior Project Manager for our Midwest Environmental Services team, focusing on industrial compliance consulting, wastewater and air permit practices specifically related to aerospace and manufacturing, as well as hazardous and solid waste landfills. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities from both current and prospective clients, managing projects, developing proposals, and addressing related issues in Kansas and other relevant markets. You will work primarily from our Wichita office while maintaining client relationships and ensuring that projects are completed and delivered to meet clients' business objectives. As a Senior Project Manager, you will engage in a mixture of office and fieldwork, with a significant emphasis on office tasks. While some work-related travel will be necessary, it is typically limited to single-day trips. Your responsibilities will include air permitting and industrial compliance work, document preparation, calculations, modeling, proposals, and business development related to these areas. You will ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, while developing project scopes, objectives, and budgets in collaboration with relevant stakeholders to ensure technical feasibility and alignment with our business strategy. You will lead or actively participate in client prospecting, developing and executing client plans, business development/marketing plans, and key opportunity plans. Coordination of internal resources and third-party vendors will be essential to complete projects and ensure resource availability and allocation. You will also evaluate and estimate future business and strategic plans to forecast assigned staff workloads and utilization, manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs, and maintain relationships with clients and third parties/vendors. Additionally, you will develop proposals by collaborating with clients to understand their business objectives and provide solutions that meet their expectations and technical needs. A key aspect of your role will be overseeing, managing, and developing lower-level staff to enhance their knowledge and establish a career path, while also assisting other Project Managers or staff when additional support or technical expertise is required.

• Conduct air permitting and industrial compliance work.

• Prepare documents, calculations, modeling, proposals, and engage in business development.

• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.

• Develop project scopes, objectives, and budgets involving relevant stakeholders.

• Lead or actively participate in client prospecting and business development plans.

• Coordinate internal resources and third-party vendors to complete projects.

• Evaluate and estimate future business and strategic plans for staff workloads.

• Manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs.

• Develop proposals by understanding clients' business objectives and providing solutions.

• Oversee and develop lower-level staff to grow their knowledge and career paths.

• Assist other Project Managers or staff when additional support is needed.
Requirements
• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or Science required.
,
• 10+ years of relevant experience required.
,
• Ability to obtain CHMM, CSP or related license within 3 years preferred.
,
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, especially for emission calculations.
,
• Knowledge of air quality, GHG, NSPS, NESHAPS rules.
,
• Knowledge of KDHE and/or other state air permitting and RCRA policies and procedures.
,
• Specific knowledge of MSW Landfill compliance preferred.
,
• General understanding of laboratory analytical procedures for air testing.
,
• Proficiency in air quality modeling such as AERMOD is a benefit.
,
• 40 Hour HAZWOPER preferred.
,
• Valid Driver's License with a good driving record required.
Nice-to-haves
• Experience in industrial compliance consulting.

• Familiarity with wastewater and air permit practices related to aerospace and manufacturing.
