Job Description

Worley is seeking a Senior Environmental Consultant for a hybrid role based in the UK, focusing on environmental services in the mining and energy sectors. The position involves managing large projects, conducting environmental assessments, and mentoring team members. Candidates should have a relevant degree and at least 10 years of experience in international environmental assessments. The role requires occasional travel (1-2 weeks per year) and allows for remote work.

ROLE: Senior Environmental Consultant

LOCATION: Any UK (near to a Worley office)

TERMS: Permanent, full time, hybrid with travel (1 to 2 weeks per year)

Worley Environment and Society (part of the Worley Consulting business) is an established and growing environmental and social services provider for clients in the mining, energy transition, clean energy (including solar, wind, hydrogen), financial and general infrastructure sectors. We pride ourselves in being involved in some of the most innovative and largest projects currently being undertaken globally. Given the breadth of experience and expertise in Worley, we undertake work across the project life cycle, including value engineering and optioneering. Our work takes us to some of the most interesting geographies across Europe, Middle East and Africa, delivering both subsea marine and terrestrial environmental and social services.

What You Will Do:
• Identify project opportunities, undertake pursuits, win and successfully deliver environmental services.
• Manage the delivery of large environmental management projects across EMEA as part of the Worley Environment and Society Practice, based in London.
• Lead environmental and social due diligence on projects across the EMEA region
• Build relationships with the environmental leaders and subject matter experts within our core client organisations to grow business within the established clients organisations.
• Work with Worley teams in other locations and interface with other regional offices and teams to win and deliver environmental services, including Continental Europe, Middle East and Africa.
• Mentor and coach less experienced members of the Environment and Society team.
• Planning and Permitting Advisory (UK and Continental Europe)
• Scope and deliver EPR applications
• Manage EIAs
• Permitting / Engineering Interface Management
• Interface between Worley Engineering and 3rd party Permitting Contractors
• Input into integrated project schedules
• Develop RFI for the engineering team to support Client’s Permitting
• Environmental and Social Due Diligence in accordance with the GIIP (EP, IFC PS, WB EHS Guidelines, EBRD PR etc)
• IFC PS ESIAs

What You Will Need:
• At least a Bachelor’s Degree (preferably a Master’s) in an Environmental Management or Environmental Engineering discipline
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in undertaking and managing international environmental and social impact assessments against relevant standards
• International Finance Institution / Lender experience
• Relevant experience across a project lifecycle (due diligence, site selection, closure and rehabilitation plans, environmental and social appraisals for PFS/Pre-FEED and FS/FEED)
• Extensive experience of report writing and documentation preparation (EIA, IFC PS ESIAs, ERP, RFI etc)
• Well developed project management experience
• A demonstrable track-record of technical and project delivery
• Excellent people, relationship building and networking skills
• Flexibility and ability to travel as required
