The City of Edmonton's Planning and Environment Services Branch is looking for an experienced project manager who is passionate about climate resilience and energy efficiency programming to lead a transformative private property landscaping project. This position will support the implementation of Edmonton's Climate Resilience Planning and Development Action Plan - the City’s strategy to ensure we incorporate energy transition and climate adaptation action in every stage of planning and development processes as Edmonton continues to grow. Specifically, this role will develop, manage, and implement Action 4 of the Climate Resilience Planning and Development Action Plan - ‘ Pursue Options for Resilient Landscaping Practices on Private Property ’ - and will be at the forefront of shaping a greener Edmonton by identifying and implementing initiatives that promote sustainable landscaping while supporting development outcomes.

Initiatives identified for Action 4 include implementing innovative landscaping practices on private properties to enhance biodiversity, conserving water, reducing environmental impacts, enhancing landscaping permitting and enforcement processes, and increasing climate resilient landscaping practices. In collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, this position will establish project plans, support internal change management, and increase community capacity. Community capacity enhancement will include exploring, developing and delivering initiatives that contribute to greenhouse gas reduction targets and achieve climate adaptation goals. In collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, the position will align initiatives focused on sustainable landscaping that ignites knowledge of eco-friendly practices and cultivates capacity for green initiatives that motivates climate adaptation actions and fosters a thriving, sustainable future.

What will you do?
• Leadership: Lead the development and management of complex projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards
• Strategic Planning: Addressing challenges and developing opportunities to support sustainable landscaping practices
• Project Management: Lead the coordination and manage deliverables, navigate and incorporation of environment and climate resilience measures in corporate operations
• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, industry partners, internal partners, and private landowners, to develop a shared understanding, build consensus and garner support for project initiatives
• Community Outreach: Develop and implement community engagement strategies to raise awareness and promote participation in sustainable practice

Qualifications:
• Undergraduate degree in a relevant field, such as environmental science, urban planning, or a related discipline
• 7+ years of progressive experience in project management including supervising project teams with multiple scope of responsibilities, with a focus on environmental sustainability and climate resilience

• Have demonstrated experience managing complex multidisciplinary projects in large organizations
• Be passionate about sustainability and committed to creating a resilient city
• Possess strategic vision and creative thinking to develop innovative solutions to complex challenges
• Have senior level change management experience, including experience managing diverse/diverging stakeholder relationships and fostering collaboration to ensure project outcomes and implementation goals are achieved
• Be results-oriented, driven to achieve project goals and deliver tangible outcomes
• Be an environmental champion, passionate about sustainability and climate action

Conditions of employment and work environment:
• Up to: 1 temporary, full-time position for up to 18 months
• Hours of work: 36.9 hours per week, Monday - Friday
• Salary Range: $102,590.85 - $128,237.58 (Annually)
• This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite
• This position is eligible for the EDO program (Earned Day Off)
• Management and Out-of-Scope positions at the City of Edmonton are being reviewed for possible inclusion in the Civic Service Union 52 bargaining unit. If this position is impacted, the incumbent will be notified accordingly
