The City of Edmonton's Planning and Environment Services Branch is looking for an experienced professional who is passionate about climate resilience and energy efficiency programming focused on electric vehicle networks. This position works to support the implementation of Edmonton's key environmental strategies including the Community Energy Transition Strategy & Action Plan and will include leading initiatives and establishing community activation plans (engaging citizens through education, programs, and resources to enhance participation in climate action).

Working within the Environment and Climate Resilience Section and based in the Community Activation unit, this role involves significant collaboration with the Strategy Planning unit as well as other organization departments. The position includes exploring opportunities and initiatives, developing and delivering educational tools, and initiating community programs that contribute to greenhouse gas reduction targets and achieve climate adaptation goals. Engaging internal and external stakeholders, the position will coordinate a variety of projects that increase community knowledge and build capacity, implement marketing strategies and develop energy transition and climate resilience programs.

We're seeking an experienced and driven Senior Program Manager to lead a transformative Electric Vehicle (EV) Network Expansion project. This is an opportunity to make a tangible impact on Edmonton's environmental sustainability and community well-being.

This position will be at the forefront of shaping a greener Edmonton by spearheading initiatives that promote expanding Edmonton's EV charging network and infrastructure to support a clean transportation future.

What will you do?
• Lead the development and management of complex projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards
• Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve project goals and objectives
• Lead the coordination and manage deliverables, navigate and influence the incorporation of environment and climate resilience measures in corporate operations
• Collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including government agencies, community organizations, industry partners, internal partners, and private landowners, to develop a shared understanding, build consensus and garner support for project initiatives
• Develop and implement community engagement strategies to raise awareness and promote participation in sustainable practices
• Collaborate with diverse stakeholders (internal, external, government, public) to align efforts and garner support for project initiatives
• Provide expert advice and guidance to staff and stakeholders on energy transition and climate resilience strategies, policies, and regulations
• Represent the organization on various committees and at public meetings, presenting complex concepts clearly and concisely
• Manage project teams, including assigning tasks, providing training and mentorship, conducting performance reviews, and ensuring a positive work environment
• Oversee the development of reports, presentations, and other materials for various audiences, including City Council and administrative committees
• Monitor and evaluate project outcomes, identify lessons learned, and apply them for continuous improvement
• Stay updated on emerging trends, best practices, and innovative approaches in energy transition and climate resilience

Qualifications:
• Knowledge, training and/or education in a relevant field, such as environmental science, urban planning, engineering, or a related discipline
• Experience in project management, with a focus on environmental sustainability or transportation

Skills required for success:
• Strong leader and team builder with a demonstrated commitment to environmental sustainability
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience delivering presentations to diverse audiences
• Proven problem-solving, analytical, and negotiation abilities, capable of managing complex tasks and deadlines
• Extensive experience in relevant sectors, including government, non-profit, real estate, energy, transportation, and others, with a deep understanding of energy transition and climate adaptation strategies

Conditions of employment and work environment:
• Up to: 1 temporary, full-time position for up to 11 months
• Hours of work: 36.9 hours per week, Monday - Friday. This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite. This position is eligible for the EDO program (Earned Day Off).
• Salary Range: $102,590 - $128,237 (Annually)
• Management and Out-of-Scope positions at the City of Edmonton are being reviewed for possible inclusion in the Civic Service Union 52 bargaining unit. If this position is impacted, the incumbent will be notified accordingly.
