About the position
The Senior Engineer in Grid Integration and Stability at GE Vernova will contribute to business initiatives related to power systems and power electronics, supporting the energy transition. This role involves technical analysis, modeling, and simulation of renewable generation and energy storage systems, while ensuring compliance with grid codes and standards. The position allows for remote work within the United States.
Responsibilities
• Perform technical analysis related to power electronic and power systems control of renewable generation, battery energy storage systems, large industrial drives and FACTS.

• Support customers with power systems engineering expertise, including modeling, analysis, equipment design and specification, and failure mode analysis.
,
• Create, modify and parametrize simulation models representing GE Vernova inverter-based resource (IBR) products like wind turbines, solar and battery storage.
,
• Evaluate grid code compliance standards and their impact on renewable energy projects in bulk power systems.
,
• Support development of transmission and distribution connected IBR and distributed energy resource (DER) products for evolving codes and standards through participation in industry standards groups.
,
• Perform power system transient studies, and detailed equipment modeling using appropriate software tools.
,
• Effectively communicate results to both internal and external customers by preparing detailed written reports and presentations describing analyses performed, solutions developed, and customer value propositions.

• Enhance industry knowledge and present technical content in regional forums and conferences; serve as a thought leader in industry activities.
,
• Actively participate in a working environment where teamwork, quality, customer service and innovation are important.
Requirements
• Master's degree in electrical engineering or electric power engineering.
,
• Minimum ten (10) years of experience creating and modifying dynamic user models as well as conducting steady state and dynamic analysis in simulation tools like PSS/E, PowerFactory and PSLF.

• Minimum five (5) years of experience with the use and application of common programming languages (e.g. Python, MATLAB, FORTRAN).
,
• Strong background in power system analysis.
,
• Solid understanding of inverter-based resources (control system) design and application considerations.
Nice-to-haves
• Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering, electric power engineering, or related field of study (five years of experience will be adequate with this qualification instead of ten years).

• Advanced experience with steady state and dynamic analysis using large database simulation tools like PSS/E, PowerFactory, PSLF and use of programming languages like C and C++.
,
• Advanced experience in creating and modifying dynamic user models in simulation tools like PSS/E, PowerFactory and PSLF is a plus.
,
• Experience in electromagnetic transient simulation tools like PSCAD/EMTDC, EMTP (e.g. FORTRAN programming of user-written models in PSCAD and in EMTP, use of Python/MATLAB scripting to automate execution and analysis of multiple simulations).

• Demonstrated application of complex mathematics and engineering to real-world electric power system problems.
,
• Industry reputation, prior IEEE/CIGRE published articles related to practical power systems engineering topics, participation in industry standards working groups.
