Job Description

MISO is hiring a Senior Energy Market and Operations Analytics Engineer in Carmel, IN, with a salary range of $123,000 - $142,000 plus bonuses. The role involves applying engineering and analytical techniques to enhance power grid operations for 45 million people. Responsibilities include data analysis, developing dashboards, and collaborating across teams. Candidates should have a relevant degree and experience in power systems, data analysis tools, and the energy sector.
Starting Salary Range: $123,000.00 - $142,000.00 - position is also eligible for an annual bonus if individual performance and company objectives are met.

As our Senior Energy Market and Operations Analytics Engineer, you will play an important role in ensuring the reliable and efficient operations of the power grid that serves 45 million people. In this role, you will apply advanced engineering and analytical techniques to evaluate and report the performance and outcomes of MISO's markets and system operations.

As part of a growing team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate across the organization to provide comprehensive storytelling of the MISO markets and operations performance, identify and communicate trends and insights, drive data driven decisions and process improvements that ensure the value, efficiency, and reliability of our energy grid.

In one year as our Senior Energy Market and Operations Analytics Engineer, you will know you are successful if:
• You successfully utilize advanced engineering and analytical techniques to evaluate the performance and outcomes of MISO's markets and operations, conduct impact assessments, and support analytics-based decision-making
• You can collect and thoroughly analyze complex, cross-departmental data sets to identify trends and insights, investigate anomalies, discover and communicate enhancement opportunities for markets and operations performance and outcomes
• You can develop data visualization dashboards, narratives, and metrics to measure and report on market and operations performance and outcomes to internal and external stakeholders
• You successfully collaborate across the organization to effectively communicate results, resolve issues and influence process enhancements
• You can conduct ad-hoc engineering analysis on major operations and market events and scenarios, and report analysis results to support various business decisions
• You can establish, streamline, and automate processes to ensure effective outcomes

We are looking for energetic and dedicated engineers who have:
• At least a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, or Electronics and Computer Engineering Technology
• At least four years of relevant work experience
• Specific experience in any combination of the following: Power System Engineering, Simulation, Modeling, Energy Market and Operations, Data science, statistical and econometrics analysis, market analysis and design, optimization algorithms
• Experience with data analysis tools and programming languages for power system and market studies - PowerBI, Python, SQL, or Azure

We would also prefer engineers with the following:
• Experience with power system engineering tools (PSSE, PowerGEM, PROMOD, or Plexos)
• Previous energy industry experience with ISO/RTO markets and operations or utility
• Master's/PhD degree

Appropriate level will be determined based upon experience and knowledge.
