Job Description

Iconergy is seeking a Senior Energy Engineer in Denver, CO, responsible for managing energy engineering projects, performing energy modeling, and ensuring quality control. The role involves liaising with customers and partners, leading project teams, and supporting sales efforts. Applicants must have a relevant degree, PE license in Colorado, and BEMP certification is preferred. The position requires strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
Applicants must possess current US Work Authorization, and not require employer-sponsored VISA support.

A day in the life of the successful candidate:

You will serve as the day-to-day liaison between the customer, Iconergy staff, and our partners. For example, you will:
• Lead or provide data analytics or programming for monitoring-based commissioning or energy information systems, be they stand alone or integrated with BAS or sub-metering systems.
• Manage all aspects of energy engineering projects (retro-commissioning or audits) including utility rebates, budgeting, development scheduling, project proforma development, measurement and verification plan, and reporting requirements to insure successful project execution performance.
• Manage the project-specific RCx, auditing, or MBCx team to meet our target development schedule and deliverables.
• Perform energy modeling simulations with Energy Plus and Open Studio.
• Lead and/or coordinate internally with Iconergy staff to plan for and receive the support needed to fulfill the project development and measurement and verification processes.
• Develop strong relationships with staff at the client facility, especially the customer's technical team and their lead facility staff person, by managing expectations and providing regular updates.
• Communicate daily with Iconergy staff to review the status of the project, highlight any concerns, and develop approaches to address them.
• Support sales to coordinate, prepare and deliver information for scheduled project development meetings with client staff, or informational meetings with utility companies, government agencies, or other third parties as required for the project development of funding.

These roles will require you to adjust your communication style to effectively interface with a wide range of Iconergy, customer, and partners, sometimes about sensitive issues.

You will also provide service in a quality control role, ensuring that we meet and exceed the customer's expectations. For example, you will:
• Ensure that the RCx, audit, and MBCx work done by the Iconergy engineering team meets specifications.
• Assure final RCx, audit, and MBCX report detail and quality is sufficient to exceed client, state and financial lender requirements.
• Assure measurement and verification (M&V) plan quality and accuracy is sufficient to meet client and approving authority requirements. Assure schedule and implementation of the M&V plan is accomplished per contract.
• Assure the acquisition of all available utility program or other incentive funding and then follow up with any required analysis, reporting, etc.

Requirements:
• Building Energy Modeling Professional (BEMP) certification (highly desired).
• Professional Engineering (PE) license in Colorado.
• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Architectural Engineering. Other degrees may be considered with appropriate work experience.
• 7 or more years of work experience in energy or design engineering. Fewer years of experience will be considered for more junior positions.
• Technically savvy with a thorough understanding of electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems, utility rates and renewables. Thorough understanding of building envelope, controls systems and performance characteristics of how the systems interact and their resulting utility consumption is critical.
• Modeling software proficiency is a requirement (eQUEST, Trane Trace, Energy Plus). BEMP certification is a requirement.
• Proficiency programming in one or more building automation systems preferred.
• Proficiency with SkySpark monitoring based commissioning programming software (or equivalent) preferred - Axon.
• Knowledge of IT and BACnet integration solutions as they pertain to building automation systems.
• Proficiency with measurement and verification, energy/water efficiency, and renewable energy systems.
• Experience with selection interviews, estimating project budgets and providing final pricing development, and project closeout.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel VBA, AutoCAD/Revit, and energy analysis programming languages (BAS programming expertise, Axon, Python, etc.).
• Demonstrated excellence in communication (written and oral) in English.

The ideal candidate will also fulfill the following:
• Pass NCIC background check (required).
• Pass an initial drug test and subsequent random drug tests (required).
• Hold a valid driver's license and provide your own mode of transportation (required).

This position will require you to frequently stand; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, you will be regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. You will also be required to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
