About the position

The Senior Distributed Energy Resources Electrical Engineer will be part of Glumac's Electrical Team, focusing on the design and implementation of renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic (PV) systems, wind, fuel cells, battery storage, and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. This role involves consulting with clients on integrating next-generation technologies into projects and working closely with the Building Science group to expand the portfolio of Distributed Energy projects. The successful candidate will lead technical analysis and design for battery energy storage, microgrid design, and the effects of renewable energy on power systems.

Responsibilities
• Assist in the design and technical analysis for battery energy storage and distributed energy resources (DERs).

• Work with the Energy team to understand the effects of renewable energy on power systems.

• Provide designs for relaying/metering, switchgear design, and electrical power systems for various projects.

• Lead pursuits and develop proposals for projects.
,
• Manage multidiscipline projects actively.
,
• Conduct electrical utility resilience planning and master planning.

Requirements
• 10+ years of experience with technical lead and design experience.

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
,
• Current Professional Engineering (PE) license is required.

• Project design experience with at least two of the following: Commercial Photovoltaic (PV) solar design, On-shore Wind turbine, Clean Fuel Cell, Large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems, Large-scale Electric Vehicle charging infrastructure, Microgrids utilizing relays and advanced control logic.

• Knowledge of codes, standards, and financial incentives for alternative energy systems, especially related to DER integration with the utility.

Nice-to-haves
• Knowledge in REVIT and AutoCAD.

• Familiarity with microgrid/DER analysis or control software.

• Experience with short circuit/coordination/arc flash software.

• Experience with designing Medium Voltage (2.4kV to 35 kV distribution).

• Experience with an island microgrid not connected to the grid utility.
