Peregrine Search Solutions is hiring a Senior Director of Renewable Energy Wind in Charlotte, NC. Title: Development Engineering Manager

Position is Based: Charlotte, NC

Hybrid position: 3 days in office

Travel: 15%-25%

Key Responsibilities
• Provide strategic engineering leadership for utility-scale solar projects, ensuring effective modeling, construction, and interconnection strategies nationwide.
• Manage technical due diligence for project acquisitions, ensuring risks are identified and mitigated while supporting acquisition evaluations.
• Oversee cost estimation processes, contract frameworks, permitting pathways, interconnection strategies, and financial optimizations for solar projects.
• Leverage deep knowledge of renewable energy systems, interconnection protocols, and risk assessment to evaluate and refine project designs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Development, Finance, Marketing, Project Management & Construction (PMC), Supply Chain, and Health & Safety, to ensure project success.
• Manage external consultants across disciplines including site assessment, interconnection, permitting, legal reviews, and construction support.
• Develop accurate technical reports, recommendations, and project analyses to enhance the company’s competitive positioning.
• Deliver technical guidance and problem-solving expertise to address complex, high-impact challenges within corporate or industry-wide contexts.
• Lead complex engineering studies and disseminate findings to drive corporate advancements and establish best practices.
• This position will not manage a team but will manage the process.

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering is required.
• Master’s degree or Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering is Preferred.
• 7+ years of relevant work experience, with at least 5 years in the energy industry and 2+ years of direct EPC experience in solar and/or energy storage projects.
• Proficiency in solar computer design tools (AutoCAD Civil 3D, ArcGIS, PVCase) and performance modeling tools (e.g., PVSyst).
• Familiarity with permitting processes and applicable U.S./IEC equipment standards.
• Experience with EPC contract review, project financing requirements, and managing consultants or contractors.

Compensation:
$135,000-$145,000 per year
