SunStrong Management, an independent, full-service asset management and servicing company for the renewable energy industry and one of the largest residential solar asset managers in the U.S is seeking a Regional Director in Los Angeles or the Bay Area in California.

Regional Director Position

The Regional Director is the single-threaded owner for the financial, operational, and cultural health of their assigned geographic region. This role is responsible for all (W-2) field technicians and Field Service Managers (FSMs) within the region.
The Director’s primary focus is to own and deliver the regional P&L, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality service delivery that meets all key performance indicators (KPIs). Success requires building and leading a high-performing team of FSMs, driving a "Safety First" culture, and ensuring all operations are data-driven and compliant. This role has no 3rd-party management responsibilities and is focused exclusively on scaling and optimizing our (W-2) workforce.

Responsibilities
• P&L Ownership: Own and manage the full P&L for field operations in the assigned region. Drive financial performance by achieving the Regional Cost per Job target.
• Operational Excellence: Lead all field operations to meet or exceed targets for key metrics, including Team Utilization %, First-Time Resolution (FTR) %, and Productivity (WOs/Day).
• Leadership & Talent Development: Build, coach, and manage a team of 3-5 Field Service Managers. Implement the formal Career Pathway and Talent Management Cadence to develop FSMs and build a strong pipeline of future leaders.
• Strategic Staffing: Own the Regional Staffing vs. Demand Model. Ensure the region has the right number of technicians in the right locations to meet demand without being overstaffed.
• Safety & Compliance Culture: Be the accountable leader for safety in the region. Enforce a "Safety First" culture, ensuring 100% team compliance with all safety protocols and achieving a Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) of zero.
• License & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure 100% License Qualifier Compliance for all 1st-party operations within the region, partnering with the Legal/Compliance teams.
• Employee Engagement: Own the Regional eNPS (Employee Net Promoter Score). Execute on action plans derived from eNPS data to build a positive, engaged, and high-retention culture.
• Data-Driven Management: Lead the regional Weekly Business Review (WBR). Use the Power Bi "Single Source of Truth" to manage performance, identify friction, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications
• 10+ years of progressive experience in field operations leadership.
• 5+ years of experience managing managers in a distributed field service organization.
• Demonstrated P&L management experience (e.g., >$10M).
• Proven track record of leading large, distributed 1st-party (W-2) technician teams.
• Strong understanding of field service metrics, including utilization, productivity, and cost models.
• Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in solar, residential services, or related industry.
• Direct experience managing operations in a complex regulatory or licensed environment.
• Proven ability to build and scale new teams and markets.
• Expertise in data-driven operations and proficiency with BI tools (e.g., PowerBI).
• Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, or a related field.

Working Conditions
• Extended periods of time working at a computer workstation.
• Regular travel to field operation locations within the assigned region (up to 40%).
• Must be available for regional business reviews and leadership meetings.

Pay: $146,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year
